AI Computer Vision Engineer
About the role:
The AI & Computer Vision Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing machine learning models for real-time identity verification, object detection, and facial recognition. This position plays a key role in the AI team, bringing intelligent capabilities into Safetrust's access solutions across embedded, edge, and cloud environments.
This role focuses on model development, optimization, and integration under the guidance of senior engineers, and contributes to Safetrust's continued growth through innovation in secure, AI-driven identity and access products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop computer vision algorithms for secure identity verification and object recognition.
- Optimize deep learning models for real-time performance on embedded and edge devices.
- Integrate AI models into Safetrust's access control systems and software solutions.
- Develop and refine image processing techniques for facial recognition and gesture-based authentication.
- Work with datasets — ensuring data quality, augmentation, and preprocessing for training robust models.
- Implement AI-driven anomaly detection for security applications.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and software developers to enhance overall system performance.
- Stay current on advancements in AI, deep learning, and computer vision.
AI Model Development & Computer Vision
- Design and develop computer vision algorithms for secure identity verification, facial recognition, object detection, and related AI-powered authentication capabilities.
- Develop, train, and optimize deep learning models for real-time performance across embedded, edge, and cloud environments.
- Develop and refine image processing techniques to improve recognition accuracy, reliability, and overall system performance.
- Implement AI-driven anomaly detection and behavioral analysis to enhance the security of Safetrust's identity and access solutions.
Model Evaluation & Optimization
- Design and execute testing methodologies to evaluate model accuracy, precision, recall, latency, and overall production performance.
- Continuously optimize models to improve inference speed, memory utilization, power efficiency, and detection accuracy for deployment on embedded and edge devices.
- Benchmark AI models against industry best practices and emerging computer vision techniques to drive continuous improvement.
Data Preparation & Model Training
- Build, curate, and maintain high-quality training, validation, and testing datasets.
- Perform data preprocessing, augmentation, labeling, and quality validation to improve model robustness and generalization across diverse environments.
- Evaluate dataset quality and identify opportunities to reduce bias while improving overall model performance.
AI Integration & Deployment
- Integrate AI models into Safetrust's access control products, embedded systems, and software platforms.
- Collaborate with software, embedded, cloud, and hardware engineering teams to ensure seamless deployment of AI capabilities into production environments.
- Support model deployment, versioning, validation, and continuous performance monitoring throughout the AI lifecycle.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and the AI & Data Architecture team to ensure AI solutions leverage trusted, well-governed, and properly structured enterprise data.
- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute recommendations that improve AI architecture, scalability, and overall product performance.
- Document model architectures, training methodologies, evaluation results, and deployment processes to support knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.
Innovation & Continuous Learning
- Stay current on advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and edge AI technologies.
- Evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies that could improve Safetrust's AI capabilities and product offerings.
- Support the development of AI solutions that prioritize security, privacy, fairness, and responsible use of biometric and identity-related data.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience (including internships / capstone projects) in AI or computer vision.
- Solid foundation in at least one deep learning framework: TensorFlow, PyTorch, or ONNX.
- Programming skills in Python; familiarity with C++ for production deployment.
- Experience with OpenCV and common image processing techniques.
- Basic understanding of model evaluation, overfitting, and standard CV metrics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have / Preferred
- Exposure to model optimization (quantization, pruning) for edge AI deployment.
- Familiarity with TensorRT, CoreML, or other edge inference runtimes.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based AI services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Interest in biometric authentication and facial recognition algorithms.
- Understanding of security and encryption considerations for AI models.
