Description

ABC Home & Commercial Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Mechanic Helper to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with basic mechanical knowledge who enjoys working with vehicles, equipment, and tools and is looking for an opportunity to develop their skills in a hands-on environment.

This role is primarily shop-focused, with occasional backup support in the warehouse as needed. You will work alongside experienced mechanic to assist with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of company vehicles, equipment, and fleet assets. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, willing to learn, and takes pride in keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist mechanic with routine maintenance and basic repairs
• Help with inspections, troubleshooting, and shop organization
• Use hand tools to support mechanical work
• Maintain a clean and safe shop environment
• Provide backup warehouse support as needed (inventory, parts, loading/unloading)
• Operate forklift or warehouse equipment (training provided)
• Assist with oil and filter changes.
• Check and replace windshield wipers.
• Check tire pressure and assist with tire changes.
• Check and replace batteries.
• Assist with routine vehicle maintenance.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and shop inventory.
• Clean and organize maintenance areas.
• Assist qualified mechanics with repairs.
• Document completed maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must have a driving record of 5+ years
• Must meet ABC’s driving and MVR requirements
• 2+ years' experience working with vehicles, fleets or mechanical equipment required
• Comfortable learning how to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues 
• Must have basic hand tools
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to successfully complete required background and drug screening. 

Education Requirements

• High school diploma/GED required

Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Frequently required to work in any weather climate
• Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods throughout the workday
• Frequently required to work in various indoor and outdoor environments while safely performing the essential functions of the position
