Medical Sales Representative Job Overview
As a Medical Sales Representative, you will play a crucial role in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the medical, surgical, and health & wellness markets. Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers will position you as a trusted expert. You will provide product training and support, ensuring customers see you as their go-to resource for solutions. In addition, you’ll collaborate with the Innovation department by offering market insights and feedback during product development, specifically in the validation, prototyping, and market research phases, helping to refine new products based on customer needs and industry trends.

- Revenue targets are met and/or exceeded.
- Sales forecasts done regularly for core products.
Responsibilities
- Support medical professionals through the familiarisation process with medical equipment including proper clinical procedures, usage and troubleshooting of the devices.
- Monitor the performance of new products in the field and support customers through any challenges.
- Organise and conduct off-site training sessions for health professionals in healthcare institutions.
- Meet and exceed targets for key accounts committed to.
- Manage customer accounts effectively to maintain positive working relationships and foster growth.
- Participate in training opportunities and attend educational workshops.
- Provide training for Key Account Managers, and other staff and stakeholders on new and existing products including the clinical aspects. This includes providing training sessions summaries and ensuring follow-up as needed.
- Acquire knowledge of strengths and weaknesses of competitive products in the portfolio and share with Key Account Managers.
- Identify business opportunities and develop strategic accounts.
- Establish strong relationships with key influencers to promote products.
- Work closely with the Innovation department to keep up to date on new technology and devices in the relevant product categories.
- Participate in promotional activity to increase product awareness in the market.
- Support the Innovation and Marketing departments to maximize the impact of product launches.
- Develop and execute plans for the company’s product lines including making recommendations for new and current product pipeline.
- Build a strong network of social professional partners.
- Advise the Innovation and Purchasing departments on emerging trends observed in the marketplace including but not limited to medical, surgical and health & wellness products.
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of the medical and surgical markets, competitors, and customers.
- At least 4 years working experience in sales of medical device, case support specifically in Pharmaceutical / Consumables field or similar role.
- Flexibility to travel.
- Must be comfortable in supporting cases in Operating Theatres
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and interpret customers’ wants and demands.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Biomedical, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Medical Technology.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Sales, Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.

Work Environment
Time is spent primarily in an office setting, seated and on the computer or phone and/or in the trade visiting customers in person.
