Position Overview:
 

The Senior Project Consultant is a customer‑facing technical leader responsible for delivering complex Microsoft infrastructure, identity, security, and modernization projects for mid‑market and enterprise clients.

This role blends hands-on technical expertise with consultative delivery, guiding customers through the assessment, design, and implementation of Microsoft solutions across on‑premises, hybrid, and Azure/Microsoft 365 environments.


The consultant serves as a trusted advisor, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with Microsoft best practices, Zero Trust principles, and long‑term modernization strategies. Most engagements are delivered remotely, with occasional onsite travel for project kickoffs, critical milestones, or customer workshops.


Experience implementing Microsoft Security solutions including Defender XDR, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, Defender for Office 365, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Entra security capabilities.

Experience assessing and migrating from third-party identity, endpoint protection, email security, and collaboration platforms to Microsoft solutions.


Ability to present technical findings and recommendations to executive and business stakeholders.

Core Technical Competencies

Microsoft Identity & Directory Services

  • Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) design, assessment, remediation, and AD migrations using Quest On-demand
  • AD health checks, security hardening, and tiered administration models
  • Hybrid identity implementations (Entra ID Connect / Cloud Sync)
  • Microsoft Entra ID security and governance including Conditional Access, Identity Protection, Access Reviews, PIM, Lifecycle Workflows, and Entitlement Management.


Azure & Hybrid Infrastructure

  • Azure architecture aligned to the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework
  • Azure networking design and implementation:
    • Azure Virtual Networks, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute (conceptual)
    • Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, routing
  • Azure IaaS and hybrid workloads
  • Azure Stack HCI and hybrid server scenarios (preferred)
  • VMware and other Virtualization to Hyper‑V Migration


Microsoft 365 & Collaboration

  • Microsoft 365 tenant architecture and core services
  • Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange (all supported versions)
  • Messaging migrations (Exchange, Google Workspace, third‑party platforms)
  • SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and collaboration governance
  • Tenant‑to‑tenant migrations (M&A scenarios)


Endpoint & Systems Management

  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM / SCCM)
  • Microsoft Intune and endpoint management
  • Co‑management (MECM + Intune)
  • Windows client deployment and management strategies


Security, Compliance & Monitoring

  • Microsoft Defender XDR (Endpoint, Identity, Office 365, Cloud Apps)
  • Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM/SOAR) – deployment and operational concepts
  • Microsoft Purview (Information Protection, DLP, Compliance)
  • Security baselines, hardening, and threat detection


Migration & Tooling Experience

  • Migration tools such as:
    • BitTitan MigrationWiz
    • Quest On Demand Migration (AD, M365)
    • Sharegate
    • Other Microsoft‑aligned migration utilities
  • On‑premises to cloud and hybrid migration projects:
    • Identity
    • Messaging
    • Data and collaboration workloads


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform discovery workshops, technical assessments, and readiness reviews to identify risks, gaps, and modernization opportunities.
  • Deliver projects aligned to approved Statements of Work (SOWs), ensuring scope, schedule, and quality objectives are met
  • Lead technical execution across on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud Microsoft solutions
  • Follow established project delivery and quality methodologies
  • Participate in customer kickoff meetings, technical workshops, and solution reviews
  • Actively manage technical risks, issues, and dependencies; escalate when required
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges during implementation
  • Identify scope risks and support change management discussions
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and technical deliverables
  • Provide regular project status updates to Project Managers and leadership
  • Enter project activities, service tickets, time reporting, and expenses accurately and on time
  • Support internal collaboration with Sales, Architecture, and Managed Services teams


Certifications (Preferred and a Plus)

Microsoft Certifications (any combination preferred):

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate

Relevant Exams:

  • AZ‑104, AZ‑305, AZ‑700, AZ‑500
  • SC‑300, SC‑100


Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 6–10 years of experience delivering Microsoft infrastructure and cloud solutions
  • Proven experience with:
    • On‑prem AD and messaging migrations
    • Hybrid identity and security design
    • Azure infrastructure and networking
    • Microsoft 365 tenant design and migrations
    • Hyper-V Migration
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft security, governance, and modernization best practices
