Job Summary

The Saw Operator position at Jim Myers & Sons, Inc. (JMS) will be a vital member of the Manufacturing Department. The position supports production activities by cutting stock material to correct lengths and measurements in a timely, efficient and safe manner.

 

Responsibilities include:

• Reads and interprets basic blueprints.
• Unload raw materials from semi-trucks and store material.
• Performs basic preventative maintenance on saw equipment (two vertical band saws).
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Operates over head crane and use of forklift.
• Keeps work area clean and safe.
• Keeps track of completed tasks and communicates with supervisors.
• Maximizes use of material to reduce scrap.

 

Required Qualifications

• Must possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints
• Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, and method and techniques used in the safe operation of a band saw.
• Must have strong attention to detail, mechanically inclined, and extremely organized
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
• Effective at prioritization, self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Desire to learn and to continue developing knowledge and skills
• High energy, team player with a positive attitude
• Flexible work hours (standard shift 5:00am – 3:30pm, M-Th, Friday and Saturday OT as required)
• Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds

 

Education

• High School Diploma or GED
