Head of Product Design

MunichFull TimePosted Sep 8, 2026

About the Role

This is a design leadership role at a fast-growing AI-powered procurement platform for the industrial sector. You will define how humans and AI agents collaborate across the product, shaping the interaction paradigms and design systems that make complex procurement decisions legible and trustworthy. Your work will directly influence profitability for large industrial customers and set the standard for AI-native product design at the company.

What You'll Do

  • Define the interaction paradigm for an agent-native product experience, where AI agents execute procurement workflows and buyers supervise, steer, and handle exceptions.

  • Develop mental models, UI patterns, and frameworks that make high-stakes procurement decisions accessible to non-analyst users.

  • Translate technical procurement concepts, such as should-costing, raw material indices, and contract leakage, into clear, actionable UX.

  • Own and evolve the design system and component architecture to support agent-driven development and rapid iteration.

  • Build, hire, and lead a team of approximately four product designers, setting standards for craft, speed, and strategic impact.

  • Establish design as a strategic partner alongside product and engineering in the core product trio.

  • Drive company-wide user understanding by implementing UX research best practices and championing real user problems.

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years in product design, with at least 2 years leading a design team at a high-growth technology company.

  • Deep experience designing data-heavy, workflow-driven products where information density is an asset, not a problem.

  • Strong systems thinking and a track record of designing in reusable frameworks and interaction patterns, not just individual screens.

  • Genuine fluency with AI as a design material, including a clear point of view on LLMs, agents, automation, and trustworthy human oversight.

  • Ability to move fluidly between strategic design leadership and hands-on craft as the situation demands.

  • Experience in startup environments or comparably demanding, fast-moving product organizations.

  • Strong collaborator with product management and engineering to deliver the best outcomes for customers.

  • Fluent English; German language proficiency is a plus.
