Job Title: Mechanical Technician III
Compensation: $50/hr
Location: Carlsbad, NM
Schedule: 5/2, 40 hours per week with approved overtime; no more than 16 hours per day
Target Start Date: ASAP
Tentative End Date: One year from starting
Scope
Technicians are assigned to carry out maintenance work as an ExxonMobil (XOM) employee or contractor resource. Typically reports to a supervisor.

Scope
Technicians are assigned to carry out maintenance work as an ExxonMobil (XOM) employee or contractor resource. Typically reports to a supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate workload to establish completion dates.
- Assist mechanical engineers in planning and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines.
- Help prepare proposals and cost estimates.
- Actively participate in the use of all on-the-job safety tools.
- Review job packs.
- Identify safety issues associated with the job and ensure removal or mitigation before working.
- Execute work as planned.
- Record technical history as required by the workgroup, including the Global Reliability Tool (GRT), data sheets, and other applicable records.
- Provide feedback on job pack improvements to the Execution FLS.
- Request permits and notify the supervisor if a permit cannot be issued within 30 minutes of the requested time.
- Discipline-appropriate certification(s), if applicable, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely describe field conditions and recommend remediation steps.
- Effective teamwork when working with individuals over whom the technician has no direct authority, with a willingness to assist others.
- Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Experience with Caterpillar engines, aerial compression, screw compression, and pumps (Impellar and Lact).
- Steady employment history.
