Survey Party Chief – High-Precision As-Built Surveying

Must be a resident of and able to work in the following counties - Allegany, Steuben, Chemung, Schuyler, Genesee, Orleans, Monroe, Wyoming, Livingston, Wayne, Ontario, Seneca, Yates, Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua, or Cattaraugus along with a minimum of ten (10) years of verifiable professional surveying experience is required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of verifiable experience performing professional land surveying, with at least five (5) years serving as a Survey Party Chief or Crew Chief on industrial, commercial, heavy civil, or energy construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience performing high-precision as-built surveys requiring strict dimensional and elevation tolerances.
- Extensive experience operating Trimble robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, and Trimble Access software.
- Thorough understanding of survey control, traversing, leveling, coordinate geometry (COGO), and construction staking.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, IFC plans, fabrication drawings, and construction specifications.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites.
- Lead and supervise all field survey personnel.
- Perform high-accuracy as-built surveys using Trimble robotic total stations and GNSS equipment.
- Establish, verify, and maintain project control networks.
- Verify all survey observations through redundant measurements and quality assurance procedures.
- Perform instrument setup verification, backsight checks, calibration checks, and daily equipment inspections.
- Coordinate survey activities with project management, contractors, engineers, and client representatives.
- Collect, review, and submit complete electronic survey data in accordance with company procedures.
- Identify field discrepancies and communicate potential conflicts before construction impacts occur.
- Maintain complete field documentation, survey reports, control records, and daily production logs.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and all project-specific safety requirements.
- Train and mentor survey technicians and junior field personnel.
- Maintain company equipment and ensure calibration documentation remains current.

Proficient with:
- Trimble SX10, S9, S7, S5, or equivalent robotic total stations.
- Trimble R-Series GNSS receivers.
- Trimble Access.
- Trimble Business Center (TBC).
- AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred).
- Ability to achieve project tolerances as specified by contract documents.
- Strong knowledge of industrial survey methodologies, construction sequencing, and quality control.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain and active construction sites.
- Ability to climb ladders, work around heavy equipment, and safely access industrial facilities.
