Work Schedule: FPI operates on a 7.5-hour workday with core hours of 9am–3pm. This role offers hybrid flexibility with regular in-office collaboration expected.
Compensation: Hiring range of $130,000 - $195,000 with eligibility for annual incentive compensation (4-8% of base salary).
We are committed to equitable compensation practices and base salaries on a consistent framework tied to role scope, responsibility, and experience. Most candidates will be hired near the midpoint of the range, depending on experience and qualifications.

Front Porch Investments serves as a catalyst for innovative and community-centered affordable housing solutions, with a focus on investment, advocacy, and engagement. Role Overview:
The VP, Finance & Operations leads Front Porch Investments’ internal infrastructure and translates organizational strategy into coordinated execution. As a member of the senior leadership team, this hands-on executive leads financial management, people operations, organizational systems, enterprise risk, and cross-functional planning.
The VP ensures FPI has reliable information, disciplined processes, and the administrative capacity required to grow responsibly and deliver its mission. This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the Executive Coordinator, Controller, and other operations staff or contractors as assigned.
Responsibilities and Duties
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Community Intelligence & Ecosystem Insights (25%)
- Organizational Integration: Translate strategic priorities and leadership decisions into coordinated work plans, management routines, and decision systems with clear ownership, milestones, and follow-through.
- Cross-Functional Initiatives: Lead high-priority projects and infrastructure transitions that span departments, including FPI’s transition from externally supported administrative functio
- Performance Management: Maintain organization-wide planning, scorecard, and reporting systems; surface risks, dependencies, and resource constraints to the Executive Director and leadership team.
Financial Leadership & Sustainability (25%)
- Financial Planning & Performance: Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, cash planning, and multi-year financial analysis; evaluate organizational performance, liquidity, reserves, and sustainability and recommend timely action.
- Resource Allocation: Advise the Executive Director and leadership team on staffing, contracts, investments, and other resource decisions, balancing mission, capacity, risk, and financial sustainability.
- Financial Governance: Serve as the primary staff partner to the Finance & Audit Committee and coordinate clear, decision-useful financial materials and recommendations for the Board.
- Finance Oversight: Oversee accounting, payroll, audit, tax, grant-financial management, internal controls, and financial reporting, ensuring qualified staff and providers perform technical work accurately and on time.
People, Culture & Organizational Effectiveness (20%)
- Workforce Planning: Lead organization-wide workforce planning, compensation and benefits strategy, role clarity, and people policies in alignment with FPI’s goals and resources.
- Management & Culture: Strengthen management practices, internal communication, staff development, equitable practice, accountability, collaboration, and employee well-being.
- Executive Support: Supervise the Executive Coordinator and ensure effective systems for executive, board, and committee administration.
- People Systems: Oversee recruitment processes, onboarding and offboarding, performance-management systems, employee records, payroll and benefits administration, and employment compliance in partnership with supervisors and external providers as applicable.
Operations, System & Risk (20%)
- Shared Operations: Oversee technology, cybersecurity, facilities, office administration, procurement, records, insurance, consultants, and key organizational vendors, including performance, cost, renewals, and organizational value.
- Enterprise Risk: Oversee organizational risk, insurance, business continuity, and nonfinancial compliance, ensuring appropriate safeguards and required filings are maintained
- Operational Systems & Controls: Ensure effective policies, procedures, workflows, records, contracts, and administrative controls are maintained in partnership with finance staff and other leaders.
Executive & Team Leadership (10%)
- Organizational Leadership: Advise the Executive Director and contribute an enterprise-wide perspective to strategy, growth, organizational design, governance, and major decisions.
- External Expertise: Select and oversee key operations, human resources, finance, technology, and administrative providers, ensuring effective coordination, performance, and value.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and develop finance, operations, and administrative staff; establish clear responsibilities, service standards, and accountability.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public administration, nonprofit management, human resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, internal controls, and financial reporting and communicating financial information to executive or boards level audiences.
- Demonstrated experience building organization-wide systems, leading complex change, supervising professional staff and external providers.
- Experience in housing, community development, nonprofit, CDFI, foundation, or financial-services settings preferred.
- Working knowledge of nonprofit or grant-funded finance, governance, enterprise risk, technology, cybersecurity, and vendor management.
- Experience overseeing people operations, including employment policies, compensation and benefits, performance management, payroll, and compliance, directly or through external providers.
- At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in finance, operations, administration, human resources, or organizational management, including significant leadership responsibility and experience overseeing multiple organizational functions.
