Assistant Maintenance Mechanic
JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Mechanic Assistant will ensure the performance and maintenance of all production and facility machinery by being diligent in conducting preventative maintenance and responding to emergency calls as needed.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure their proper functionality.
- Conduct inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical problems and develop effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and provide timely resolution.
- Preventive Maintenance: Implement and manage a preventive maintenance program to extend the life of machinery and reduce the risk of unexpected failures.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, such as work orders, repairs, and equipment history, and report findings to the Maintenance Supervisor or CMMS.
- Equipment Installation: Assist in the installation of new equipment, ensuring proper setup and functionality.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate equipment installations, relocations, or other operational goals
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance tasks.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards in the workplace
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other team members.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years of basic experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance best practices.
- Basic shop tool use
- Light welding experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.

- Experience working with a CMMS a plus
- Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and pallet jack
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
- Must be able to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
