Job Duties

  • Manage the daily operations of the Electrical Department.
  • Lead, supervise, coach, and hold electricians and apprentices accountable for performance, safety, workmanship, and customer service.
  • Review schedules and work with Dispatch to ensure electrical calls are assigned to the appropriate technician.
  • Assist technicians with difficult diagnostics, troubleshooting, and complex electrical issues.
  • Review blueprints, electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and project drawings.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and light industrial applications.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed in accordance with the NEC, applicable Kentucky requirements, local codes, permits, and Apex Solutions standards.
  • Review and approve major electrical estimates, projects, service upgrades, panel replacements, generators, EV chargers, lighting projects, and other large jobs.
  • Conduct quality-control inspections on completed electrical work.
  • Investigate callbacks, failed inspections, customer complaints, and workmanship concerns.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and implement corrective training.
  • Monitor technician productivity, revenue, average ticket, conversion rate, efficiency, callbacks, and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular technician meetings, ride-alongs, coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
  • Train technicians on technical skills, customer communication, service procedures, safety, and company expectations.
  • Ensure technicians properly document jobs, estimates, invoices, photos, videos, materials, and customer approvals in ServiceTitan.
  • Review open jobs, incomplete jobs, unsold estimates, and outstanding electrical opportunities.
  • Coordinate electrical permits and inspections as required.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and development of electricians and apprentices.
  • Manage electrical inventory, truck stock, tools, specialty equipment, and purchasing needs.
  • Ensure company vehicles assigned to the Electrical Department are clean, organized, safe, and properly maintained.
  • Enforce Apex Solutions safety policies, PPE requirements, electrical safety practices, and company procedures.
  • Assist with escalated customer concerns and provide professional resolutions.
  • Coordinate with Plumbing, HVAC, Construction, Accounting, Dispatch, and other departments as needed.
  • Participate in on-call support and emergency escalation when required.
  • Report department performance, staffing concerns, safety issues, financial results, and operational needs to company leadership.


Skills

  • Proven experience in electrical service, repair, installation, and management.
  • Strong leadership and team-management skills.
  • Solid understanding of residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and project drawings.

  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, panels, service equipment, branch circuits, lighting, controls, generators, transfer switches, EV chargers, and surge protection.
  • Ability to coach technicians through technical problems rather than performing every repair personally.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, labor efficiency, material usage, and department profitability.
  • Excellent customer service and conflict-resolution skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Valid Kentucky Journeyman Electrician License.
  • Kentucky Master Electrician License strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical field experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices, OSHA requirements, and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Ability to manage technicians, apprentices, scheduling, quality control, and customer issues.
  • Ability to review estimates, invoices, and job documentation for accuracy.
  • Ability to work overtime and provide after-hours management support when required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Kentucky Master Electrician License.
  • Previous Electrical Operations Manager or Service Manager experience.
  • Generator installation and service experience.
  • EV charger installation experience.
  • Commercial electrical experience.
  • Service sales and estimating experience.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
  • NFPA 70E training.
  • Experience using ServiceTitan or similar field-service software.
  • Experience managing KPIs, technician scorecards, and department financial performance.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and developing electricians and apprentices.
  • Experience reviewing permits, inspections, and code-compliance issues.

Candidates will be required to pass a background check and drug test upon being given a conditional offer of employment.
