Overview:
Lead the Bank's Second Line credit risk analytics and oversight by developing data-driven reporting and independent risk analysis. Monitor and assess credit portfolio performance, validate key risk metrics, and identify emerging credit risk trends. Provide independent challenge and insights to Senior Management, Committees and the Board to support informed decision-making. The role reports directly to the Risk Manager.
Role:
- Provide independent Second Line oversight of the Bank's credit risk profile, including monitoring portfolio performance, assessing variances against business plans, and ensuring credit risk exposures remain within approved risk appetite, policy parameters and regulatory expectations.
- Analyse, reconcile and validate credit risk data from source systems, First Line processes and management information, including arrears, defaults, recoveries, credit card utilisation, off-balance sheet exposures, delinquency trends, and vintage and cohort analysis.
- Perform detailed portfolio analytics and trend analysis to identify emerging credit risk concentrations, changes in customer behaviour and potential deterioration in portfolio quality.
- Perform independent validation and challenge of credit risk management information provided by the First Line, ensuring completeness, accuracy and suitability for management and Board decision-making.
- Review and validate internal and regulatory credit risk reporting, including the appropriateness and consistency of default, SICR, forbearance, impairment and provisioning classifications, together with IFRS 9 assumptions and outputs.
- Identify and investigate emerging risks, portfolio vulnerabilities, adverse trends, control weaknesses and data quality issues, assess their potential impact on the Bank's risk profile and escalate material findings as appropriate.
- Develop and enhance Second Line credit risk dashboards, management information, analytical reporting and monitoring tools to support effective oversight and informed risk management decisions.
- Track agreed remedial actions arising from portfolio reviews, data analysis, process assessments and Second Line challenge, ensuring timely implementation and closure.
- Support thematic reviews, control testing, stress testing, ICAAP, Recovery Planning, Risk Appetite monitoring and assessments of compliance with credit risk policies and regulatory expectations.
Skills & Experience:
- Tertiary Education in Banking & Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Risk Management or a related quantitative discipline.
- 3-5 years' experience in credit risk management, portfolio analytics, data analytics or a similar analytical role within retail lending.
- Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret credit portfolio trends and translate complex data into meaningful insights through reporting and visualisation tools (e.g. SQL, SAS, Python, Power BI or Tableau).
- Experience in the analysis, oversight or constructive challenge of credit risk strategies, automated lending models, credit decisioning processes or First Line reporting from a Second Line of Defence perspective.
- Experience with credit card and other unsecured retail lending portfolios.
- Good understanding of credit risk concepts, including PD, LGD, EAD, NPLs, forbearance, credit underwriting, impairment provisioning, loan staging and IFRS 9 classifications.
- Working knowledge of the CRR/CRD framework, EBA Guidelines, IFRS 9 and applicable credit risk regulatory requirements.
- Experience analysing portfolio performance metrics, including arrears, defaults, recoveries, utilisation rates, vintage analysis and concentration risk, will be considered an asset.
