Jail Diversion Peer Support Specialist
Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking a full-time Jail Diversion Peer Support Specialist who will provide peer support to individuals in local county jail. The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will meet with clients in the community to connect them with services and reduce likelihood of recidivism due to significant mental health symptoms. The PSS will understand and respect each client’s point of view, experience and preferences, and work with other CHD staff to maximize client choice, self-determination and decision making in the planning and delivery of treatment.
The Requirements:
- Must have a history of mental health symptoms and have received therapy services at some point to establish stability.
- Must be able to complete 40 hour Peer Delivered Services training and register as a Traditional Health Worker- Family Support Partner with The Office of Equity and Inclusion within 90 days of hire.
- Possess MHACBO certification as a Certified Recovery Mentor preferred or willingness to pursue.
- CADC I or ability to obtain CADC I within two years of employment.
- Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s license and be insurable for client service purposes, travel between business offices, and to attend required meeting and/or trainings.
- Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 407-007-0200-407-007-0370 and drug screening.
