Sandy Lane Hotel, an exclusive AAA Five Diamond resort and a member of Leading Hotels of the World, is seeking to recruit a Storeman responsible for storing and issuing of inventory and equipment, maintaining accurate and relevant records, in accordance with company procedures.



The Role

The Storeman will report to the Storeroom Supervisor and will be responsible for assigned areas in Storeroom.

 

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Notify relevant department head of items that arrive for their department; ensures items are collected within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Ensure that all goods are placed in correct position in storeroom, within the day of delivery in a neat and tidy manner.
  • Ensure that goods are adequately identified by item code, which must be conspicuously displayed.
  • Issue stock according to requisitioning procedures, against proper authorization and completes the replenishment sheet.
  • Monitor stock/par levels on all items; ensures that the Supervisor and Purchaser are notified of any items that must be reordered before stock levels are completely depleted.
  • Ensure that perishable food & beverage are stored at appropriate temperatures.
  • Monitor shelf life of all items; advise the Supervisor of any soon to expire items, giving at least one month’s notice.
  • Ensure that all inventories are correctly labelled/coded, rotating stock and issue on a First In First Out basis.
  • Advise relevant department heads of any back in stock items.
  • Ensure that fridges, freezers, storage areas, loading bay, floors, walls, ceilings and work areas are kept tidy, organized, and sanitary at all times.
  • Inspect items for spoilage; follows company procedure for disposal and recording of spoilt inventory.
  • Participate in all stock taking activities.
  • Perform other tasks/duties relevant to Stores/Inventory as required by company or requested by management.

 

Our preferred candidate must possess:

  • Secondary level education with preferably 1 year experience in warehousing and stock room experience preferably in the hospitality industry
  • The ability to work under pressure and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Good knowledge of non-food & food/storage and handling
  • Good computer, organizational, mathematical, and telephone skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply Purchasing Department policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to maintain standard of accuracy in exercising duties.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, coaches and vendors.
  • Ability to work in areas that are hot, cold, damp, draft or poorly lighted as well as  in normal warehouse conditions, freezer and chiller climates
  • Heavy duty license would be an asset

 

The successful candidate must be in excellent physical condition to perform extensive walking, bending and stretching and be able to handle pressure calmly and professionally in a busy environment.
