Supported Residential Service Specialist

ABOUT THIS ROLE 

This is one-on-one support in someone else's home. During your scheduled times, you're help a member live their life more independently. This may include cooking dinner, running errands, getting to appointments, household chores, budgeting, and working on social skills in the community. 

You'll work independently in a 1:1 setting, with strong communication back to your coordinator, the member's guardians, and the team. This role runs on trust. Members, families, and guardians rely on you to show up when scheduled, do what you said you'd do, and act like a professional the whole time you're in someone's home. It's real work, real relationships, and no day looks exactly the same.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide 1:1 in-home support with daily living skills
  • Assist with appointments, community outings, and transportation
  • Support household routines, budgeting, shopping, and documentation


IN-HOME DAILY LIVING SUPPORT

  • Teach and support independent living skills: cleaning, cooking, laundry, organization
  • Help build daily routines that work for the member
  • Support meal planning and prep
  • Assist with shopping, budgeting, and basic money management
  • Encourage member choice, self-advocacy, and dignity in every interaction


COMMUNITY & APPOINTMENTS

  • Support community outings, social activities, and inclusive experiences
  • Help with medication pick-ups as appropriate
  • Encourage social engagement and community participation


HABILITATIVE PROGRAMMING

  • Implement 1–2 habilitative programs focused on independence (training provided)
  • Track progress toward habilitative goals
  • Follow individualized service plans and support strategies
  • Report concerns or changes to your supervisor


DOCUMENTATION (the part that keeps everyone in the loop)

  • Complete accurate, timely documentation in our electronic system
  • Use EVV (Electronic Visit Verification) to log each shift
  • Communicate progress and concerns to supervisors and the team
  • Follow HIPAA, mandated reporting laws, and Nebraska Administrative Code requirements


WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum age 19
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance
  • 1–2 years experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Ability to pass state & federal background screens
  • Comfort working independently in home and community settings

YOUR SCHEDULE

  • Flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings, and weekends
  • Frequent local travel within Omaha metro service area


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Navigate stairs and varied community environments
  • Sit, stand, walk, drive, and use mobile devices for extended periods
