Job Description Summary:

The Part Time (20 hours/week) Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and supporting the daily operations of the Gift Shop. This role assists customers, processes sales transactions, maintains an organized and visually appealing sales floor, replenishes merchandise, and supports inventory and stockroom organization. The Sales Associate works collaboratively with the team to ensure a welcoming shopping experience while upholding the Gift Shop's standards of service, professionalism, and presentation.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service. Greet and assist patients, visitors, employees, physicians, and volunteers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Help customers locate merchandise, answer basic product questions, and create a welcoming shopping experience.                                                                                           
  • Process sales transactions. Accurately operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges using cash, credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, employee badge payroll deduction, gift cards, and other approved payment methods.           
  • Maintain sales floor appearance. Keep the Gift Shop clean, organized, and visually appealing by straightening merchandise, recovering displays, and ensuring products are attractively presented throughout each shift.                                                                                    
  • Restock merchandise. Replenish shelves, fixtures, and displays as needed to maintain product availability and support a positive shopping experience.                                          
  • Assist with merchandise processing. Help receive and process incoming merchandise by unpacking shipments, counting items, labeling products, and stocking merchandise according to established procedures.                                                                                         
  • Maintain an organized stockroom. Keep the stockroom neat, organized, and safe by properly storing merchandise, breaking down boxes, and maintaining an orderly workspace.                                                                                              
  • Support inventory accuracy. Notify management when merchandise is running low, assist with inventory counts as assigned, and help maintain accurate stock levels.                                
  • Follow store policies and procedures. Adhere to all Gift Shop policies, hospital guidelines, cash handling procedures, safety standards, and loss prevention practices while performing daily responsibilities.                                                           
  • Support daily store operations. Perform opening or closing duties as assigned, including preparing the sales floor, maintaining cleanliness, completing assigned checklists, and ensuring the store is ready for customers.                                                                  
  • Work as a team member. Collaborate with fellow Sales Associates and management to provide excellent customer service, complete daily tasks efficiently, and contribute to a positive, respectful, and supportive work environment.                                                                                                                                                    

Qualifications

  • Part Time, 20 Hours per week
  • Education
    • H.S. Graduate
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 1 yr as a sales person in a hospital gift shop or similar retail store, preferred.  Ability to work well with co-workers and volunteers.  Effective oral, written, and computational skills.
