Surgical Periodontist: Reno, Nevada
Reno, NV | Part-Time, 1–2 Days per Month to Start | Private Practice | Collections-Based
Love complex surgery? This role goes well beyond maintenance and routine implants. A confidential, dentist-owned group in Reno wants a surgically driven Periodontist to take on the advanced cases its pediatric and high-producing general dentists already generate: complex implants, fully impacted third molars, grafting and in-office IV sedation. Start with a day or two a month and grow from there.
The work
- Complex implant placement and full-arch implant surgery
- Surgical extraction of fully impacted third molars and other complex extractions
- In-office IV sedation
- Bone grafting, ridge augmentation, sinus augmentation and socket preservation
- Soft tissue grafting, crown lengthening and periodontal surgery
- Implant complication management
Appropriate cases are consolidated into dedicated, productive surgical days, and you decide which fit your scope.
The practice
- 100% dentist-owned and dentist-led: no private equity, no corporate bureaucracy
- Built-in referrals from pediatric and general dentists inside the organization, so there's no network to build
- Established offices with experienced clinical and administrative teams and advanced surgical case coordination
- Strong clinical autonomy and collaborative relationships with referring doctors
Schedule and growth
- About 1–2 clinical days per month to start, scheduled around your existing commitments
- More days as demand grows
- Leadership sees advanced surgical and periodontal services as a growth area. The right periodontist may add days, build a larger internal referral program, support more locations, set surgical protocols and explore long-term partnership.
What you need
- DDS/DMD and an accredited periodontics residency
- Board-certified or board-eligible preferred
- A Nevada dental license and sedation permit, or the ability to obtain them
- Advanced implant surgery, bone grafting and implant treatment planning experience
- Demonstrated competency with complex surgical extractions and fully impacted third molars
- Experience administering IV sedation in an office setting
Compensation
Collections-based, with significant daily earning potential depending on procedure mix and collections, and more upside as internal specialty referrals grow.
Why Reno
Minutes from the Sierra Nevada and about 40 miles from Lake Tahoe, with no Nevada state income tax, four seasons of recreation, easy access to Northern California and a growing market where advanced specialty skills are highly valued.
How to be considered
Submit your CV with a short note on your IV sedation and third molar experience, the implant systems you place, your Nevada license and permit status, and how many days a month you could start with.
