Specialist Operator - Watercutting

ChristchurchPosted Jul 24, 2026

Mō te tūranga | About the role

Join Fulton Hogan’s Watercutting team in Christchurch and be part of the good work we do every day.

This is a hands-on role for someone who’s reliable, safety-conscious and ready to get stuck in. You’ll operate our specialised watercutting equipment and support the team with labouring and plant maintenance to help deliver high-quality work for our customers.

Our watercutter uses ultra high-pressure water to remove excess bitumen from road surfaces, helping restore surface texture and improve road performance.

The role is based out of our Hornby yard in Christchurch, but the work won’t keep you in one spot for long. You’ll get out on the road and work across the South Island and lower North Island, taking on different sites, different conditions, and different challenges along the way. If you like variety, enjoy seeing more of the country, and want a role that’s more than the same yard and same job every day, this is it. Flexibility to work away from home is essential.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Operate specialised watercutting equipment safely and efficiently on roading projects.
  • Carry out general labouring duties to support day-to-day delivery within the watercutting team.

  • Work to a high standard of safety, quality and teamwork.
