About the Role
Corinex is seeking an experienced Mechanical & Product Design Engineer to support the development and industrialization of hardware products for energy and smart-grid applications. The role focuses on mechanical design, product integration, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing readiness. Experience with the German BSI environment and certification processes is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, enclosures, assemblies, and hardware products from concept to production.
- Create 3D CAD models in SolidWorks, engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Develop mechanical solutions involving PCB integration, connectors, cabling, thermal management, structural integrity, and installation requirements.
- Collaborate with electrical, hardware, manufacturing, and product teams.
- Support material selection, tolerance analysis, prototyping, testing, verification, and validation.
- Conduct DFM/DFA reviews and support transition from prototype to serial production.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners on tooling, materials, quality, and engineering changes.
- Support troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, product risk assessments, and design reviews.
- Maintain drawings, BOMs, specifications, and engineering change documentation.
- Support German and European regulatory requirements, including BSI evaluation and certification where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or hardware engineering.
- Strong experience designing electromechanical products involving PCBs, connectors, cabling, or electronic hardware.
- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD tools.
- Strong knowledge of materials, tolerances, plastics, sheet metal, machining, assembly, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience taking hardware products from concept and prototype through validation and production.
- Strong hands-on problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Professional English proficiency; German is strongly preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with BSI requirements or certification processes.
- Experience in smart metering, smart grid, utilities, energy infrastructure, telecommunications, industrial electronics, or IoT hardware.
- Familiarity with European compliance requirements such as CE, EMC, RoHS, REACH, electrical safety, and IP protection.
- Experience working with certification bodies, test laboratories, suppliers, or contract manufacturers.
