Job overview
This opportunity supports commercial real estate and architectural projects through the preparation of construction drawings, permit coordination, and building area analysis. This role collaborates with architects, property managers, project managers, consultants, and local jurisdictions to ensure projects are accurately documented, code compliant, and successfully permitted while maintaining accurate building area calculations in accordance with BOMA standards.
Here are the specifics:
Architectural Drafting
- Prepare and revise architectural construction documents using AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting software.
- Develop floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, and permit sets for tenant improvement and commercial projects.
- Maintain drawing standards and document accuracy throughout project development.
- Coordinate drawings with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants.
- Incorporate redline markups and design revisions into project documents.
- Produce as-built drawings and record documentation as required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and jurisdictional standards.
Tenant Improvement Permitting
- Prepare permit application packages and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate permit submissions with the authority having jurisdiction.
- Track permit status, plan review comments, and approval timelines.
- Respond to jurisdictional review comments and coordinate revisions with project teams.
- Communicate with plan checkers, inspectors, contractors, and consultants throughout the permitting process.
- Maintain permit logs and project compliance records.
- Support project closeout and occupancy documentation.
BOMA Area Analysis
- Perform building and tenant area measurements in accordance with current BOMA standards.
- Calculate rentable, usable, and common area factors.
- Create lease exhibits and area calculation reports.
- Verify building measurements against architectural drawings and field conditions.
- Maintain accurate square footage databases and records.
- Support property management and leasing teams with area verification requests.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, landlords, tenants, and consultants.
- Assist in project scheduling and document management.
- Participate in design and coordination meetings.
- Monitor project milestones and deliverables.
- Maintain organized electronic project files and records.

Work Environment
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and filing cabinets.
- Work is performed in a professional office environment with minimal exposure to noise or hazards.
What you’ll need to succeed in this position:
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or bachelor’s degree in architecture, Architectural Technology or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in architectural drafting, commercial tenant improvement projects, or permitting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required.
- Working knowledge of Revit preferred.
- Experience with commercial building permit processes.
- Understanding of building codes, accessibility standards, and life safety requirements.
- Knowledge of BOMA area measurement standards and methodology.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in commercial real estate, corporate architecture, or workplace planning.
- Knowledge of lease exhibit preparation and space planning.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience working with municipalities and permitting agencies across multiple jurisdictions.
- Understanding of construction administration processes.
