The Opportunity
The Research and Evaluation Adviser is a Permanent, Full Time or Part time (0.8FTE) role based at Sandringham, Frankston and Dandenong - Bunurong Land. The Research, Outcomes Measurement and Evaluation (ROME) team sits within Family Life’s Clinical Practice, Evidence and Quality portfolio.
The ROME team partners across service areas, community engagement, place-based initiatives, social enterprise and volunteering to embed data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement and organisational learning. We shape evaluation and research priorities and deliver monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning activities that support evidence creation and use, measure impact, improve service reach and guide future investment.
Working with the Research and Evaluation Manager and teams across Family Life, the Research and Evaluation Adviser provides specialist advice, project delivery and practical support across monitoring, evaluation, reporting, outcomes measurement and client feedback to strengthen evidence-informed decision-making, performance and impact.
Key Responsibility Areas
This role designs and delivers monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting activities, including frameworks, program logics, theories of change, outcomes tools, dashboards and insight products. It leads and supports evaluations, analyses data, client feedback and service outcomes, and develops surveys and data collection methods to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement. The role also advises leaders and teams on evaluation, outcomes measurement, reporting integrity, evidence-informed practice and data quality, builds evaluation and data literacy through coaching, training and resources, and contributes research and evaluation expertise to evidence reviews, submissions, tenders, business cases, strategic initiatives and external projects.
Our Ideal Candidate at Family Life
You bring strong research, evaluation and data analysis skills, with the ability to turn evidence into practical insights and recommendations. You can manage multiple projects, facilitate workshops or consultations, and produce clear reports, presentations and data visualisations. You communicate well, build effective relationships across diverse teams, and support evidence-informed decision making, continuous improvement and organisational learning.
Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in evaluation, social sciences, psychology, public health, research, data analytics, community services or a related discipline.
Desirable: Experience in community services, child and family services, mental health, family violence or related human services sectors.
