OVERVIEW
Security provides services for Launchpad Preschool and is seeking a dedicated, experienced Security Officer to help protect the preschool community, including staff members, students, and visitors. This role requires a vigilant professional who can maintain a secure environment in a preschool setting and provide emergency medical assistance when necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain the safety and security of the preschool premises.
- Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring authorized entry only.
- Provide emergency medical assistance when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and visitors.
- Patrol the premises regularly to prevent and detect signs of intrusion or hazards.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
This is a full-time security position supporting a preschool environment during weekday operating hours. The Security Officer will help maintain a safe, welcoming campus while monitoring access, responding to concerns, and supporting emergency readiness.
REQUIREMENTS
- Licenses: A State of Florida Class D Security Officer license is required, and a Statewide Firearm License Class G is preferred. Applicants without a Class D license will not be considered.
- Certification: CPR certification is required or can be provided if necessary. Common knowledge of first aid is preferred.
- Must be currently certified in the use of a 9mm handgun if possessing a Class G license.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Florida law is preferred, especially laws and regulations related to security and firearms for candidates who possess a Class G license.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to stay calm under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment.

- Understanding of security protocols and procedures.
- Familiarity with Florida state laws and regulations regarding security and firearms if the candidate possesses a Class G license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, and patrolling the premises.
- Endurance: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during surveillance or monitoring tasks.
- Strength: Capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Agility: Quick response and mobility required in emergency situations, including the ability to run, climb stairs, and perform basic physical interventions if necessary.
- Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to manage and operate security equipment and firearms, if the candidate possesses a Class G license.
- Stamina: Maintain focus and alertness during long shifts and varying schedules.
SCHEDULE
- Scheduled hours will vary. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 0600 to 1900.
- Minimum hours: 30–40 hours weekly.
