Maintenance Technician/Special Projects – Aggregate Pit Location: Los Lunas
Job Summary
Black Rock is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the operation and upkeep of equipment at our aggregate pit. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, yellow iron, crushers, jaw crushers, water trucks, and blade trucks. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, experience with heavy equipment repair, and a proactive approach to maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operations. Additionally, this role will take charge of special projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in aggregate pit equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, yellow iron, crushers, jaw crushers, water trucks, and blade trucks.
- Inspect and maintain engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Weld and fabricate components as needed for equipment repairs.
- Work closely with the operations team to minimize equipment downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while performing maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate service records and report equipment conditions to management.
- Assist with general maintenance of the pit, including dust control and road maintenance when needed.
- Operate equipment when necessary to assist with daily production.
- Keep tools and work areas clean and organized.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, preferably in an aggregate, mining, or construction environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Certifications: Welding and fabrication experience preferred. CDL or equipment operator certifications are a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in outdoor conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Safety Focused: Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA regulations and best practices for equipment maintenance in an industrial setting.
- Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members.
- Problem-Solving: Quick thinker with strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.
Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday, typical hours are 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Overtime and weekends may be required based on operational needs
