Albers Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electronics Engineer to support the detailed design, development, integration, and testing of advanced electronic systems for defense applications. This position will focus on mixed-signal electronics, embedded control circuitry, power management, and safety-critical electronic systems, including Electronic Safe and Arm Devices (ESADs) and related technologies.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in analog and digital circuit design, printed circuit board (PCB) development, electronic component selection, and hardware verification. This individual will be responsible for electrical designs throughout the product development lifecycle, from initial concept and prototyping through qualification and production transition.

The position requires a hands-on engineer capable of moving quickly from concept to prototype to fieldable system, collaborating  across multiple disciplines, balancing analytical rigor with practical execution.

This position operates in a fast-paced, rapid-development environment where engineers are expected to make sound technical decisions with incomplete information, rapidly mature designs, solve difficult integration problems, and balance performance, schedule, cost, producibility, and risk.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design, develop, and validate analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for advanced defense applications.
  • Lead electrical design activities, including schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, circuit simulation, and design documentation.

  • Support the development of safety-critical electronic systems, including ESADs, electronic interlocks, built-in-test functionality, and fault-monitoring circuitry.
  • Perform circuit analysis and simulation to evaluate performance, component tolerances, electrical margins, and environmental considerations.
  • Develop hardware prototypes and conduct bench-level testing, debugging, and design verification.
  • Define electrical requirements, interface specifications, verification procedures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain electrical technical data packages, including schematics, PCB fabrication and assembly files, bills of materials, interface documentation, and test procedures.
  • Support hardware integration with mechanical assemblies, sensors, actuators, and embedded software.
  • Lead electrical design reviews, troubleshoot hardware failures, and perform root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Support environmental qualification, production acceptance testing, and transition of electronic designs into manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality, and test engineering teams to meet technical and program objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and engineering technicians.
  • Provide technical support for the selection and procurement of these electrical components, to include working with partner suppliers throughout the life cycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience designing, developing, or testing electronic hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience in analog and digital circuit design, including mixed-signal electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer, Cadence, or equivalent ECAD tools.
  • Experience with circuit simulation and analysis tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or MATLAB.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, including operational amplifiers, comparators, ADCs/DACs, MOSFETs, voltage regulators, and digital logic devices.
  • Experience with microcontroller-based or programmable logic-based hardware and associated digital interfaces.
  • Experience with PCB bring-up, hardware troubleshooting, and design verification testing.
  • Proficiency with laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, and power supplies.
  • Ability to interpret electrical requirements, develop technical documentation, and communicate engineering results.
  • Experience supporting hardware development from prototype through qualification or production.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
