Position Summary:
The Business Enterprise Solutions Team Co-op position offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience supporting a variety of private business clients. The successful candidate will assist with full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, management reporting, government filings, and other accounting-related matters while developing their technical and professional skills.
Major Responsibilities
- Assist with bookkeeping to trial balance, including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, cheque runs, and account analysis
- Assist with preparing client payroll using QuickBooks and other online payroll service providers
- Assist with preparing T1, T2, and T3 tax returns
- Prepare tax and regulatory forms, including T4, T5, HST, EHT, and WSIB filings
- Draft correspondence related to client engagements
- Organize and maintain accurate client records and supporting documentation
- Assist with management reporting and other accounting-related projects as required
- Communicate professionally with clients and members of the engagement team
Qualifications/Experience:
- Currently pursuing a college diploma or university degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field
- Interest in developing a career in accounting, bookkeeping, or professional services
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online is an asset
- Knowledge of Caseware, CaseView, or TaxPrep is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Good time management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
- Strong commitment to accuracy and quality
- Professional approach and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
