Accounting Assistant (Part-Time)
A New Chapter Is Beginning in Nevada. Want to Be Part of It?
Your Next Opportunity Starts Here!
Are you interested in accounting, enjoy working with numbers, and want an opportunity to develop skills that can help shape your professional future?
What if you could gain hands-on accounting experience while contributing to a company that's growing in Nevada?
At Mendoza Companies, we're expanding our operations, and we're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant who's excited to learn, contribute, and be part of our journey.
Whether you're beginning your accounting career, building on your education, or transitioning into the field, this could be a great opportunity to put your skills into practice and gain valuable experience.
And here's something important: You don't need to know everything on day one!
We're looking for someone who brings curiosity, accountability, attention to detail, and a genuine willingness to learn.
You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, explore different areas of accounting, and contribute to the financial processes that support our growing operations.
Because meaningful careers are built one opportunity, one skill, and one accomplishment at a time.
What You'll Do
As our Accounting Assistant, you'll support both general accounting and project accounting activities, gaining exposure to the financial operations behind a growing construction organization.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Accounting Support: Assist with accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), invoice processing, and everyday bookkeeping tasks.
- Data Entry & Financial Records: Enter and review financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and keep accounting documentation organized.
- Project Accounting: Help track project expenses, enter job cost information, and organize vendor and subcontractor documents.
- Banking & Reconciliations: Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations, Positive Pay bank transactions, expense tracking, and related documentation, following established procedures.
- Reporting & Administrative Support: Prepare spreadsheets, assist with basic financial reports, and support month-end accounting activities.
- Team Collaboration: Work with Finance and Project Accounting team members to support daily activities, deadlines, and special projects.
You'll receive guidance as you become familiar with our systems, procedures, and accounting processes.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys learning, and understands that even the smallest details can make a big difference.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Ability to manage priorities, follow instructions, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
- Reliable availability during the established part-time schedule.
- Willingness to learn new systems, ask questions, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Great to Have, but Not Required
- Coursework or training in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, business, or a related field.
- Previous experience in administrative support, data entry, cashiering, or bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems.
- Basic knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, or financial recordkeeping.
- Experience in construction accounting or project-based environments.
Don't have direct accounting experience yet?
That's okay! If you're organized, comfortable working with numbers, eager to learn, and ready to take on new challenges, we'd love to hear from you.
