Intermediate Designer
The Opportunity
Gemini Water is expanding its design team and is seeking a dynamic, full-time intermediate Designer to join our multidisciplinary team at our Gainesville, Florida, office. The successful candidate will design systems for the growing water and wastewater treatment industry.
Job Responsibilities:
- Produce quality drawings with limited revisions.
- Follow company CAD standards consistently.
- Model piping systems and equipment under supervision.
- Learn from redlines and apply corrections without repeating mistakes.
- Participate in field walkdowns and incorporate field observations into designs.
- Progress toward independently completing small design packages within the first year.
- Assist in site work when required could include international travel.
Key Qualifications, Education, and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Drafting & Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Three (3) – Seven (7) years of industrial process design and CAD modeling experience.
- Proficiency with Bentley OpenPlant Modeler, MicroStation is required.
- Proficiency in OpenPlant PID is preferred.
- Experience working in water/wastewater, industrial, chemical, or power facilities.
- Experience working with laser scan point clouds.
- Experience performing field walkdowns.
- Familiarity with ASME piping codes and common industry standards.
- Experience mentoring junior designers and/or reviewing drawing packages.
- Ability to develop accurate 3D models from P&IDs, equipment layouts, and engineering markups.
- Experience designing process piping systems, mechanical equipment layouts, pumps, valves, and basic pipe supports.
- Ability to produce orthographic drawings, general arrangement drawings, piping plans and sections, and equipment installation details.
- Working knowledge of piping specifications, equipment clearances, pipe routing best practices, and constructability principles.
- Ability to coordinate with structural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Ability to identify and resolve routine design conflicts and escalate complex issues appropriately.
- Willingness to learn company design standards, workflows, and industry best practices.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Willingness and ability to travel and spend periods away from the normal place of work as required.
- A valid passport or ability to obtain one is preferred due to potential international travel.
