Pilot Car Driver – Part-Time

Yukon, OklahomaPart TimePosted Oct 30, 2026

EnerStar Solutions is seeking two experienced Pilot Car Drivers to support the safe movement of equipment and oversized loads throughout our operating regions.

This is a part-time, as-needed position with no set weekly schedule. Pilot Car Drivers will be scheduled when EnerStar has equipment or loads requiring escort support. The majority of work is expected to support operations in Oklahoma and Texas, with opportunities to assist with load movements in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and other locations as operational needs require.

Candidates may be based in Oklahoma or Texas and should be comfortable with travel, changing schedules, and assignments that may arise based on operational needs.

We are looking for individuals who already have professional pilot car/escort driving experience and can safely and confidently support oversize-load movements with minimal direction.

This is an experienced position. Candidates should have previous professional experience escorting oversized or over-dimensional loads. Please include the types of loads you have escorted, years of experience, and current pilot/escort certifications when applying.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a lead and/or chase pilot vehicle for oversized and over-dimensional equipment movements.
  • Support EnerStar drivers during equipment and load movements.
  • Review assigned routes, permits, and load requirements before movement.
  • Identify and communicate roadway hazards, clearance concerns, construction, traffic conditions, railroad crossings, and other potential obstacles.
  • Maintain clear communication with the transport driver, other escorts, and EnerStar personnel throughout the move.
  • Assist with route surveys and height-pole operations when qualified and required.
  • Properly position and operate the pilot vehicle according to the requirements of the assignment.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure required pilot car equipment is ready for use.
  • Monitor road, traffic, weather, and operating conditions and communicate concerns promptly.
  • Follow applicable federal, state, and local requirements for pilot/escort operations.
  • Follow EnerStar safety policies and driver requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and safety-focused approach when interacting with customers, other drivers, contractors, law enforcement, and the public.

EnerStar's vehicle safety standards require drivers to have the appropriate valid driver's license, complete required training, and pass a road test before operating a company vehicle.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Previous professional pilot car/escort vehicle experience.
  • Experience supporting oversized or over-dimensional load movements.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of pilot car responsibilities and safe escort practices.
  • Experience working as a lead and/or chase vehicle.
  • Ability to understand routes, roadway conditions, and potential hazards associated with oversized-load movements.
  • Strong communication skills and situational awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound safety decisions in the field.
  • Ability to travel as assignments require.
  • Ability to work a flexible, as-needed schedule.
  • Ability to successfully complete EnerStar-required driver and safety requirements.

EnerStar's driver program includes pre-employment MVR review, driver qualification requirements, safety training, and a road test conducted by a qualified Driver Trainer prior to driving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current pilot/escort vehicle certification(s).
  • Experience with over-height loads and height-pole operations.
  • Experience conducting route surveys.
  • Experience supporting oilfield, modular building, heavy equipment, or similar specialized transportation.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience coordinating complex load movements involving multiple escort vehicles.

Schedule & Travel

This is not a set-schedule position.

The position is part-time and work will be offered on an as-needed basis based on EnerStar's equipment movement and operational needs. Hours and days may vary from week to week, and candidates should not expect a guaranteed number of hours.

Assignments will primarily support equipment movements throughout Oklahoma and Texas, but drivers may also be asked to travel to Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, or other operating areas.

Because oversized-load movements may be affected by permits, travel restrictions, weather, routing, and operational requirements, drivers must be comfortable with schedule flexibility, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended days when an assignment requires it.

Position Duration

EnerStar is looking to bring qualified drivers onboard as soon as possible.

This position is being established to meet current operational needs and may be temporary or may develop into a longer-term opportunity depending on business needs, workload, and operational requirements.

Why This Opportunity May Be a Good Fit

This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced pilot car driver who:

  • Wants supplemental part-time work.
  • Does not need a traditional Monday-through-Friday schedule.
  • Is available to take assignments when equipment needs to be moved.
  • Enjoys travel and field-based work.
  • Already understands oversized-load escort operations.
  • Wants the opportunity to work with EnerStar without initially committing to a full-time position.
