Childcare Support Staff Position Overview: Childcare Workers create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children while their parents or caregivers participate in Central Church programs and events. This role helps families feel cared for by providing dependable supervision and helping each child feel known, included, and valued. Responsibilities
- Provide attentive supervision for children throughout the scheduled childcare time.
- Create a safe, positive, and age-appropriate environment.
- Welcome children and parents during check-in and help children transition into the room.
- Engage children through play, crafts, games, stories, or other provided activities.
- Assist with snacks, diaper changes, bathroom needs, and basic care as appropriate.
- Follow all Central Church childcare, safety, check-in, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain appropriate adult-to-child ratios and remain in the assigned childcare area.
- Keep the room clean and organized, including sanitizing toys and returning supplies after use.
- Communicate any concerns, injuries, behavioral issues, or unusual situations to the childcare lead.
- Work collaboratively with other childcare workers and ministry staff.
- Help ensure children are released only to an approved parent or caregiver.
- Dependable, responsible, and able to arrive on time.
- Patient, caring, and comfortable working with children.
- Able to follow instructions and respond calmly in unexpected situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Previous childcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Must complete any required background check, safety training, or Central Church onboarding.
- Must meet the minimum age requirement established for the childcare assignment.
