About The Role & Team

At Webull, we are committed to empowering individual investors with the tools and resources they need to take control of their finances.  Our mobile-first platform provides commission-free trading of stocks, options, and ETFs, giving users the freedom to invest in the assets that matter to them without worrying about high fees eating into their returns. In March 2024, we announced our addition of futures trading.

Webull Futures LLC operates in a highly regulated futures environment where disciplined risk governance, strong controls, and proactive regulatory engagement are essential. The risk function is responsible for identifying, measuring, monitoring, and escalating the financial, operational, liquidity, credit, market, technology, and third-party risks associated with the firm’s futures business.

We are seeking a senior, highly experienced Risk Officer for Webull Futures LLC. This individual will be the senior-most risk officer for the futures business and will own the design, implementation, and ongoing oversight of the firm’s risk management framework. The role will partner closely with executive leadership, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Product, Treasury, Finance, Technology, and enterprise risk leadership to ensure that Webull Futures LLC maintains a robust, scalable, and regulator-ready risk program aligned with CFTC, NFA, exchange, clearing, and internal governance expectations.

In This Role, You Will

  • Serve as the senior-most risk officer for Webull Futures LLC, with ownership of the firm’s futures risk management framework, governance structure, policies, procedures, limits, reporting, and escalation protocols.
  • Identify, assess, monitor, and escalate material risks across the futures business, including market, credit, liquidity, operational, technology, model, vendor, clearing, margin, concentration, and regulatory risk.
  • Establish and oversee risk appetite, key risk indicators, trading and exposure limits, stress testing, scenario analysis, margin monitoring, and other risk controls appropriate for an FCM and technology-driven futures platform.
  • Partner with the CEO of Webull Futures LLC, US CRO, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Product, Treasury, Finance, Technology, and enterprise risk leadership to ensure risk considerations are embedded into strategy, product development, operational processes, and new business initiatives.
  • Provide independent risk challenge and executive-level guidance on futures product launches, client onboarding, clearing relationships, margin policy, liquidity planning, incident management, and business continuity preparedness.
  • Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, escalations, and governance materials to senior management, board-level stakeholders, committees, and relevant control functions.
  • Maintain a regulator-ready risk program and support interactions with the CFTC, NFA, exchanges, clearing organizations, auditors, and other external stakeholders in coordination with Compliance and Legal.
  • Stay informed of futures industry developments, regulatory expectations, market structure changes, and emerging risks, and proactively evolve the risk program as Webull Futures LLC scales.

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, risk management, accounting or a related quantitative field; an advanced degree or relevant professional certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive risk management experience in futures, derivatives, clearing, FCM, broker-dealer, exchange, financial technology, or similarly regulated financial services environments.
  • Demonstrated experience serving in a senior risk leadership, senior risk officer, head of risk, or equivalent control-function leadership role with direct exposure to executive management and governance bodies.
  • Deep understanding of risk management practices applicable to futures and derivatives businesses, including margin, liquidity, market risk, operational resilience, clearing, client exposure, concentration risk, stress testing, and escalation frameworks.
  • Strong familiarity with CFTC, NFA, exchange, clearinghouse, and related regulatory expectations, with experience supporting examinations, inquiries, audits, or regulatory interactions.
  • Proven ability to build, scale, and mature a risk management program in a fast-paced, technology-driven financial services organization.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Excellent executive communication skills, including the ability to present concise risk assessments, recommendations, and escalations to senior management, boards, committees, regulators, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong judgment, independence, analytical rigor, and commercial awareness, with the ability to provide effective challenge while enabling responsible business growth.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, technology-focused environment, with a proactive, data-driven, and forward-looking approach to risk management.
