About the role
We are looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will take ownership of the full payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing while handling employment changes, statutory reporting and absences. You will also contribute to improving payroll processes, reporting, and automation.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end monthly payroll for our Bulgarian entities: calculations, additional remuneration, bonuses, benefits and deductions.
- Administer the full employment lifecycle in payroll: contracts, annexes, reassignments and terminations.
- Handle sick leave, maternity/paternity and other absences, including submission to the NSSI within statutory deadlines.
- Manage summarized working hours and shift schedules, including night work, overtime and public holiday calculations for our 24/7 operational teams.
- Submit all statutory declarations and reports to the NRA, NSSI and NSI.
- Own payroll data quality across our HR systems.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Monitor changes in Bulgarian labour, tax and social security legislation.
- Handle employees’ payroll-related requests — salary calculations, income certificates, official notes and more complex cases that require individual assessment.
- Contribute to compensation-related projects: salary reviews, benefits changes and preparation for pay transparency requirements.
- Pick up additional People projects that interest you, as capacity allows — automation, reporting, policy work and systems. Payroll is the core of the role, but it isn't a ceiling.
Requirements
- 5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity, in a company of 200+ employees or a payroll service provider handling clients of that size.
- Strong and up-to-date knowledge of Bulgarian labor law, social security and personal income taxation, with the ability to explain and validate payroll calculations.
- Hands-on experience with summarized working hours and non-standard schedules.
- Strong command of Bulgarian payroll software — we use Aladin by Microcomplex (Omeks, Ajur, Plus Minus or HeRMeS are also relevant).
- Advanced Excel skills: lookups, pivots, reconciliations and confidence working with several thousand rows.
- Fluent Bulgarian and working proficiency in English — our documentation, systems and some of our stakeholders are English-speaking.
- Strong sense of discretion, integrity and confidentiality when working with sensitive payroll and employee data.
Nice to have
- Experience across multiple legal entities or countries.
- Exposure to the international tech, iGaming or software industry.
- Involvement in a payroll system migration or automation project.
- Familiarity with the EU Pay Transparency Directive and what it will require of employers.
What we offer
- An open-minded environment that values you
- An international multicultural team
- An amazing office environment
- Food vouchers (95 EUR)
- Additional health insurance
- Multisport card
- Up to 24 days of paid annual leave
- Flexible working hours
- Manicure, massage, breakfast, and snacks in the office
- Wedding and new baby bonus
- Team building activities
