About the Senior Director, Media Role:
BRIC seeks a Senior Director, Media to provide strategic leadership and oversight of Studio BK/BRIC TV and Community Media. A key priority is bringing these areas into closer alignment and creating pathways for Community Media producers to develop their skills, deepen their engagement with BRIC, and access opportunities within BRIC TV and its original productions.
Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Senior Director will supervise the Associate Director, Studio BK and Associate Director, Community Media and establish strategy, priorities, and resources across BRIC’s Media portfolio.
What You’ll Do in the Role:
BRIC TV / Studio BK
● Provide strategic oversight of programming, editorial direction, content development, production, and distribution.
● Guide original programming that advances BRIC’s mission, supports emerging creators, and reflects Brooklyn’s communities.
● Identify opportunities for co-productions, licensing, distribution, partnerships, audience growth, and earned revenue.
● Oversee production resources, workflows, and programming priorities.
● Collaborate across Marketing, Development, Operations, Engineering, and other BRIC teams to support production, promotion, and distribution.
Community Media
● Provide strategic oversight of Community Media, Community Producer Services, facilities, and equipment access.
● Strengthen engagement with Community Producers and ensure meaningful access to resources, opportunities, and support. Build clear pathways from Community Media into BRIC TV and other professional opportunities.
● Partner with Education and other BRIC programs to deepen participant engagement across the organization.
● Maintain key relationships with cable companies and develop partnerships and revenue opportunities that strengthen Community Media.
Strategy, Leadership & Department Oversight
● Partner with the Chief Program Officer to establish strategy, priorities, and goals across BRIC’s Media portfolio.
● Supervise and develop the Associate Director, Studio BK and Associate Director, Community Media, fostering strong leadership and accountability.
● Drive integration between BRIC TV and Community Media through shared programming, talent development, resources, and collaboration.
● Oversee operating and capital budgets, forecasting, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
● Develop external partnerships and earned-revenue opportunities that expand BRIC’s reach and impact.
● Serve as a senior organizational leader, contributing to organization-wide planning and representing BRIC with partners, funders, community stakeholders, and industry peers.
You’ll Bring
● 7+ years of progressive experience in media, television, community media, content production, or a related field, including significant leadership experience.
● Demonstrated experience managing managers and multidisciplinary teams and developing staff.
● Strong knowledge of content development, production, editorial strategy, and digital and broadcast distribution.
● Experience developing community-based media programs and pathways for emerging creators.
● Strong strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills.
● Experience managing operating and capital budgets, staffing, and resources.
● Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across teams, communities, and external partners.
● A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and expanding access and opportunity.
● Bachelor’s degree in Media, Film, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience and Qualifications:
● 7+ years of progressive experience in media, television, community media, content production, or a related field, including experience in a leadership capacity.
● Demonstrated experience managing managers and multidisciplinary teams, with a strong commitment to staff development.
● Strong knowledge of content development, production, editorial strategy, and digital and broadcast distribution.
● Experience developing community-based media programs and pathways for emerging creators to access professional opportunities.
● Strong strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills, with the ability to oversee multiple programs and priorities.
● Experience managing operating and capital budgets, resources, and staffing plans.
● Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience working across departments and with external partners and community stakeholders.
● Bachelor’s degree in Media, Film, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
● Detail Oriented. Demonstrates love for writing, and possesses a strong passion for the power of words. Exhibits exemplary grammar, proofreading, editing and communication skills while being attentive to accuracy.
● Communication & Relationship Building: An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven leader who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization, and provide feedback and coaching to support the achievement of goals. Highly skilled communicator and relationship builder, both individually and in large audience or public communications.

Other Things to Know:
● Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $110K - $135K.
● Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.

BRIC currently pays 100% of the premium for employee medical, dental and vision coverage starting on the first of the month after 2 months of employment.
