Manager - High Net Worth Tax Practice

Who You Are:

You are a licensed CPA with deep knowledge of tax strategies and at least 5 years of experience with clients who have complicated investment portfolios. This includes investment partnerships, real estate investment partnerships, individuals who receive complex 1099s, and complex hedge fund K-1s. You also have a deep interest in assisting clients with family wealth structuring and experience with trust tax filings. You are a technical expert who enjoys helping clients and sharing knowledge with your co-workers when you encounter a unique situation that requires you to research and develop a solution. You are looking to advance to a principal and help grow your firm.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage tax compliance engagements in accordance with firm and professional standards.
  • Apply technical expertise to detail review complex tax returns, projections, workpapers, tax research and other requested deliverables.
  • Provide comprehensive tax planning and advisory services to high-net-worth individuals, families and their related entities.
  • Communicate proactively with clients and engagement partners regarding project status, client service opportunities and other significant matters in a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understand their needs and provide exceptional client service.
  • Plan and schedule tax engagements with clients and firm resources.
  • Manage assignment budgets, anticipate and communicate budget issues, identify opportunities to improve assignment profitability, prepare billings, and assist in cash collections.
  • Share and transfer knowledge with team members.
  • Provide Associates and Seniors with guidance, coaching, and support in career development and area of specialty.
  • Apply new approaches to proposal development and effectively manage resources contributing to proposal initiatives.
  • Keep informed of recruitment needs and use external peer network and relationships to refer potential candidates.
  • Write and publish articles with the research and assistance of Associates and Senior Associates.


Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess Tax and Engagement preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to develop and maintain complex workpapers, summaries, and analytical reports used in tax return preparation.
  • Strong technical expertise in reviewing complex Form 1099s.
  • Strong technical expertise in reviewing complex hedge fund and private equity Schedule K-1s.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles with the ability to prepare and review adjusting journal entries and analyze how these adjustments impact clients’ tax positions and financial statements.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax accounting, tax law, tax planning, tax advisory and tax compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax legislation and provide practical advice to clients.
  • Ability to present ideas with confidence and act as a subject matter expert, communicating concepts to clients and staff clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent management, team building and organizational skills
  • Successful management of multiple responsibilities in the face of competing priorities.
  • Strong sense of ownership and personal accountability.
  • Produce high-quality work under deadlines.
  • Particular attention to detail.


Qualifications:

  • CPA required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a tax role with a focus on high-net-worth individuals, preferably in a public accounting firm.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to articulate complex tax matters to others.
  • Ability to work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced and complex environment.
