General Manager – AI Legal Tech Startup

Zlayt AI is a litigation automation platform built exclusively for personal injury law. From demand letters and deposition summaries to discovery responses and case analysis, Zlayt equips law firms with intelligent tools that draft faster, think strategically, and deliver results without friction, setup, or compromise.

We're an early-stage, product-led company building the category-defining go-to-market motion for legal AI in a large, underserved niche. This is a rare opportunity to build the commercial engine — strategy, sales, marketing, and customer success — from the ground up, working directly with the founding team.

The Role

Zlayt AI is hiring a General Manager to build and run the commercial side of the business. You'll work directly with the founders to stand up go-to-market strategy, sales, marketing, and customer success as functions that don't yet exist in a formal way — designing the systems, hiring the team, and owning the results.

This is a builder's role, not a caretaker's role. You'll be creating processes and structure where none exist, not optimizing something already in motion.

What You'll Do

• Design and build Zlayt's commercial engine: go-to-market strategy, sales process, marketing, and customer success
• Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and the founding team to translate the platform's capabilities into a repeatable growth motion
• Hire, structure, and lead the commercial team as it grows
• Own outcomes end-to-end — from strategy through execution — with direct accountability to the founders
• Operate with significant ambiguity in an early-stage environment, making decisions with incomplete information and adjusting quickly
  

Who You Are

• A builder, not an inheritor: You've shipped a 0-to-1 product, software product, or major feature — you know what it takes to build something from nothing, not just run an existing playbook
• Cross-functional: You've led initiatives spanning multiple departments or functions, not just your own lane
• Startup-tested: You've worked in small, fast-moving companies where you had to build systems yourself, not step into ones that already existed
• Self-directed: Your track record shows work you personally drove — not just team results you were adjacent to
• Experienced but still hands-on: Roughly 6–12 years of total professional experience
• Stable but not stagnant: A track record of meaningful tenure at each stop, with job changes that make sense (promotions, acquisitions, layoffs, or clear career logic — not a pattern of short stints)
