The Role

 

At Envitia, we help some of the UK's most important organisations unlock the value of their data to make better decisions, improve operational outcomes, and deliver mission-critical services. As a Data Architect, you'll play a key role in shaping how data is managed, governed, integrated, and exploited across complex public sector and defence environments.

Working within our Consulting division, you'll lead the design and delivery of modern data architectures that enable organisations to turn data into a strategic asset. You'll collaborate with clients, delivery teams, and technical specialists to define data strategies, establish architectural patterns, and deliver innovative solutions across cloud, analytics, AI, and data platform technologies.

This is a highly influential role that combines technical leadership, client engagement, and business transformation. You'll work directly with senior stakeholders to understand complex challenges, develop robust data solutions, and guide programmes from early concept and discovery through to implementation and operational adoption.

Beyond client delivery, you'll help shape Envitia's growing data capability by contributing to our methodologies, frameworks, accelerators, and thought leadership. You'll also support pre-sales and business development activities, helping define winning technical solutions and representing Envitia at industry events, customer engagements, and conferences.

Job Responsibilities 

 

• Lead the design and delivery of modern data architectures that enable clients to unlock value from their data and achieve business-critical outcomes.
• Work closely with customers and stakeholders to understand complex business challenges, gather requirements, and translate them into scalable, secure, and sustainable data solutions.
• Develop enterprise-wide data strategies that support organisational objectives and digital change initiatives.
• Define and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices to improve data quality, management, ownership, and compliance.
• Provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from discovery and solution design through to implementation, transition, and operational adoption.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure successful execution of data platforms, integration solutions, and analytical capabilities.
• Support the development of business cases, cost models, delivery estimates, and risk assessments to inform solution design and investment decisions.
• Contribute to the evolution of Envitia's data capability by developing reusable methodologies, accelerators, frameworks, and technical assets.
• Identify emerging technologies, market trends, and innovation opportunities, helping shape future service offerings and client solutions.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on data architecture, governance, cloud adoption, analytics, and AI-enabled transformation.

 

Skills Required 

 

Data Architecture & Technical Skills

• Experience designing and delivering data architecture solutions within complex enterprise environments.
  
• Experience supporting the development of data strategies, architectural roadmaps, and target-state data architectures.
• Knowledge of data governance principles, data quality frameworks, and information management best practices.
• Experience enabling analytics, reporting, and AI-driven use cases through effective data architecture and platform design.
  
• Practical experience working with cloud-based data platforms and services, including Azure and/or AWS.

Consulting & Stakeholder Management

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience gathering and analysing business requirements and translating them into effective data solutions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, project managers, and business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Experience producing high-quality architecture artefacts, design documentation, and technical recommendations.
• Experience contributing to technical governance processes and presenting solution designs to architecture and design review forums.
• Experience supporting business development activities, including contributing to proposals, solution designs, and customer presentations.

Sector Experience

• Experience delivering data solutions within Defence, Central Government, National Security, wider Public Sector or other highly regulated environments would be advantageous.

Security Clearance Requirements

 

The successful candidate must hold or be required to go through an SC security clearance.

 

Location

 

The role will require travel to our Horsham offices 2 days a month and travel to customer sites when required.
