Pay: $25.00 - $35.00/hr

Youth Opportunity is a nationally recognized leader in residential and behavioral health treatment for at-risk youth. In Nashville, Tennessee, Walnut Youth Academy and Rosewood Youth Academy each provide structured, trauma-informed residential treatment in 30-bed settings.


Walnut Youth Academy serves girls ages 13 to 18, while Rosewood Youth Academy serves boys ages 13 to 19 in a secure treatment environment. Both programs offer a comprehensive combination of intensive mental health treatment, substance use intervention and prevention, academic instruction, therapeutic recreation, restorative justice, expressive therapies, and enrichment opportunities such as art, music, recreation, and dedicated educational programming.


Youth typically remain in care for about six months and participate in individual, family, and group therapy; life and social skills training; anger replacement training; psychoeducation; victim impact awareness; substance use programming; and, where appropriate, pre-vocational preparation. Programming is delivered 24/7 in small group living units, providing a structured and supportive environment focused on treatment, growth, skill development, and successful community reintegration.


Position Summary – Facility Maintenance Worker Job in Nashville, TN

We are hiring a Facility Maintenance Worker to support the daily operations of Walnut / Rosewood Youth Academy. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in building and grounds maintenance who want to make a meaningful impact in a residential treatment environment. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient facility to ensure a supportive setting for youth and staff.

Facility Maintenance Worker Responsibilities

  • Manage building services including maintenance, groundskeeping, parking areas, and facility safety
  • Conduct regular building inspections and take proactive steps to ensure a safe, efficient, and presentable environment
  • Oversee safety and security measures, including fire, burglary, and facility closures
  • Monitor and maintain close circuit security systems and access card operations
  • Support program managers by identifying and coordinating maintenance projects and repairs
  • Track and maintain facility fire and health inspections and ensure timely resolution of deficiencies
  • Direct contractor activities related to facility maintenance, equipment, and grounds


Other Duties Include

  • Maintain a high standard of role model behavior for youth
  • Participate in training and development activities as required
  • Report any acts, incidents, or conditions reflecting inappropriate behavior
  • Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to foster a positive, team-oriented work environment


Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in facility maintenance or related roles
  • Prior project management experience strongly preferred


Other Requirements

  • Physical Demands: Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds. Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. Ability to drive for extended periods.
  • Other: Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver’s license. Must meet company auto insurance requirements. Must meet state criminal background check and pre-employment screening requirements.
