ROLE OVERVIEW

 

DVT is seeking a seasoned Senior Python Developer with a track record of developing high-performing, scalable, and enterprise-grade applications. As a Senior Python Developer, you will be an integral part of our dynamic and technology-driven software team, focused on mission-critical applications. Your responsibilities will encompass Python application development, and you will bring expertise in the entire software development lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to testing and deployment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Responsibilities

• Develop Python application software.
• Contribute to the production of technical specifications and designs.
• Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle.
• Write well-designed, testable, and efficient Python code.
• Ensure that designs adhere to specifications.
• Prepare and produce software component releases.
• Support continuous improvement by researching and presenting alternative technologies for architectural review.

Knowledge and skills

• 5+ years of Python development experience.
• Proficiency in Python application development, including knowledge of Python frameworks and libraries.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and enterprise design patterns.
• In-depth knowledge of Python internals and its ecosystem (Memory Management, Threading, Packaging, etc.).
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Experience developing web applications using popular web frameworks like Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Proficiency in working with data formats such as JSON, XML, and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Excellent knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) technologies.
• Solid working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and data modeling.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Qualifications

 

• Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent (Matric, A or O levels).

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Hands-on experience with Python frameworks and libraries.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
• Experience with cloud-native development, including knowledge of AWS services.
• Proficiency in web security concepts (OAuth2, JWT, OpenID).
• Hands-on experience with Python web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask) and UI frameworks (e.g., Angular or React).
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
• Strong understanding of Python application deployment and containerization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality software.
