JOB SUMMARY

The Job Coach/Direct Support Person (DSP) will support people served at the Community Day Services Program by accompanying them to community work sites as they work and/or seek employment. In addition, the job coach will support people as they engage in leisure and recreational activities of their choice with an emphasis on community-based experiences.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive in a variety of weather conditions during the day or at night
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma (via transcripts) or GED from an accredited educational institution
  • Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46) and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background check
  • Successfully complete and maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • Successfully complete Direct Support Person training in accordance with IDHS requirements (if not already certified as a Direct Support Person)
  • Experience supporting people with I/DD is preferred

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Develop a rapport with persons served, their families, and area employers/volunteer sites
  • Transport people in the community to activities of their choosing, their worksites, and/or to/from the program from their homes in agency-owned vehicles 
  • Support people by assisting with daily living needs, such as grooming/hygiene, as needed
  • Model appropriate workplace behavior at the program and in the community
  • Provide support and guidance regarding workplace behavior/etiquette, understanding workplace laws/rules, and completion of job tasks
  • Review individualized plans and document the services provided on a daily basis
  • Accurately record time spent at work sites
  • Actively participate in team meetings
  • Assist in planning and implementing other day program activities based on the input of those served

 

SCHEDULE

  • Permanent Full-Time (40 hour per week)
  • Primarily Monday – Friday between the hours of 8 am - 5 pm with the possibility of occasional evenings and/or weekends, depending upon worksite needs
  • Major holidays off

 

WAGES

$18.75/hour to start with a $0.50/hour increase after completion of paid training

 

PAY SCHEDULE

Paid every two weeks with a direct deposit option
