Operations Assistant

About Smoky Mountain Children’s Home: Smoky Mountain Children’s Home (SMCH) provides care, support, and hope to children and youth in need. Our Operations team keeps our campus running smoothly so our staff and residents can focus on growth and healing.

Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable, self-motivated Operations Assistant to support campus operations. You will work closely with the Operations Coordinator to handle warehouse activities, donations, resident supplies, cottage moves, and event logistics.

Key Responsibilities

• Warehouse & Inventory: Maintain a clean, safe warehouse, process donations, and perform monthly inventory counts.
• Donations: Pick up, transport, clean, store, and redistribute donated items from community partners.
• Resident Support: Prepare "First Day" supply kits and track youth personal inventory during admissions, moves, and discharges.
• Requisitions & Moves: Assist with monthly cottage supply requisitions, facility moves, packing, and furniture setup.
• Inspections & Events: Help with facility inspections, campus projects, and event setup with the Co-Executive Director’s Office.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Age: High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 18+ years old.
• Background Check & License: Clear all background checks and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Skills & Availability: Highly organized, punctual, strong communication skills, and open to working some nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical Demands: Able to lift 40+ lbs, walk hills/stairs briskly, and spend ~60% standing/walking and ~40% lifting/bending indoors and outdoors.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $29,200 – $32,200/year (based on education), plus eligibility for a $1,000/year increase after a favorable 90-day review.
