Blackstone Europe Fund Management S.à r.l. (“BEFM”) is a private limited liability company (société à responsibilité limitée) notably subject to the Law of 10 August 1915 on commercial companies, as amended from time to time and to the AIFM Law. BEFM is authorized by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (“CSSF”) as (i) a management company under Article 101(2) (Chapter 15) of the Law of 17 December 2010 on undertakings for collective investment, as amended (the UCI Law) and (ii) an alternative investment fund manager in accordance with the Law of 12 July 2013 on alternative investment fund managers, as amended (the AIFM Law).
BEFM manages UCITS and alternative investment funds (“AIFs”) in a variety of asset classes including private equity, real estate, credit and hedge fund. BEFM is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (“SMAs”) with a combination of these asset classes.
Job Description
Blackstone is seeking an Associate/AVP for the AML team in Luxembourg, who will play an important role in supporting the function with its “Best in Class” standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with various stakeholders in the US and EMEA regions. The primary focus will be on overseeing the AML framework of BEFM and its funds to ensure regulatory expectations are met while maintaining lean and sustainable processes. This position will report to the Conducting Officer in charge of AML and provide daily support to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in a wide range of tasks.
Responsibilities
- Support the MLRO with the implementation of the new EU AML package
- Coordinate completion of various AML filings and reports (e.g. SRRC report, AED questionnaires)
- Execute the AML testing program (including tests covering name screening processes, deal-level AML)
- Conduct AML regulatory watch and escalate any material updates to relevant stakeholders
- Manage AML-related queries from auditors and support ad-hoc regulatory reviews
- Assist in the periodic reviews of the AML policy, risk assessment, and risk appetite of BEFM and its Funds
- Assist in the oversight of the various Transfer Agents
- Assist with coordinating account openings and KYC refreshes
- Prepare board decks for the BEFM Board, BEFM Management Committee and the governing bodies of the Funds
- Ensure counterparties AML/KYC files are kept up to date
- Coordinate the funds onboarding approval process (from an AML perspective)
- Assist the Distribution Oversight team with AML-related queries
- Maintain the internal AML log
- Support or lead AML strategic projects as needed
Qualifications & Skills
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, with a sound judgment, and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in AML, preferably within an alternative asset manager or major consulting firm
- Fluent in English, both written and oral
- Strong knowledge of EU/Luxembourg AML legislation
- Analytical mindset
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and strong time management skills
- Ability to work independently in an organized manner and take on appropriate responsibility, including coordinating with transfer agents and assisting sales teams with investor onboarding
- Ability to effectively connect and collaborate with international teams, and thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Working knowledge of AI and automation tools is a plus
