Land Management Technician

Primary Responsibilities:

A land management technician provides support and assistance to the land management forester. In addition, this position is responsible for tract preparation and layout of harvest operations, and other duties as required.

  • Support the land management forester
  • GIS collection, reporting, and maintenance of land ownership data
  • Prepare tracts for harvest
  • Supervising and auditing road building activities for long-term management
  • Acquire tract access, correct adverse possessions, and minimize threats to timber
  • Property inspections
  • Timber harvest setup and supervision
  • GIS mapping and data management
  • Hunting lease inspections
  • Private landowner communication
  • Assisting in company-wide projects such as cruising and burning
  • Attend police jury meetings


Job Experience:

Attention to detail, creative thinking, and communication skills are vital for success in this role.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Forestry training at a vocational college or equivalent experience
  • Outstanding safety record in all aspects of previous employment

Preferred:

  • One year of experience in GIS, boundary lines, and courthouse research
  • Experience in road construction and maintenance
  • Experience operating a dozer
  • Experience in acquiring access, identifying pests, and applying control measures
