Operations Manager

The Operations Manager directs and supports all operational functions located within the branch location and facilitates the maximization of resources to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence, and company goals.


Essential Functions

  • Oversee or perform responsibilities to ensure finished goods meet or exceed company and customer requirements
  • Perform all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage the personnel assigned
  • Maintain and continuously evaluate inventory levels and needs with the Inventory/Purchasing Department
  • Routinely communicate with all VSP locations regarding cost-saving opportunities, including material and scrap utilization transfers
  • Work as the liaison between the production team and the customer service team to troubleshoot customer requests and late orders
  • Communicate with Director of Production and Facilities on needs, concerns, and areas of improvement to promote efficiencies and growth
  • Coordinate with Director of Production and Facilities and appropriate sales team to support regional sales activities and opportunities
  • Ensure scheduled ship dates are met and orders are committed for invoicing on the date of shipment
  • Manage open orders and communicate with Account Specialists on status
  • Manage and maintain open purchase orders and communicate with Purchasing Department on status
  • Properly conduct inventory transactions in ERP
  • Understand and properly implement VSP’s Quality Management System and company policies
  • Ensure implementation of VSP’s health and safety program and report all near misses and safety concerns
  • Conduct applicable work procedure training with assigned personnel (as needed)
  • Attend and participate in Operations’ staff meetings
  • Implements and upholds company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies within assigned areas. Ensures team compliance, promotes safe work practices, and supports continuous improvement toward VSP’s safety and sustainability objectives.
  • Manage routine maintenance of the facility, equipment, and infrastructure improvements
  • Ensure a neat and orderly facility
  • Ensure proper training of personnel assigned
  • Develop staff for advancement and plan for future staffing needs
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness
  • Project a favorable image of the company to promote, foster, and enhance public recognition of the company and its products and services


Experience / Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Considerable experience relating to essential job functions
  • Some college or higher-level technical training (Preferred)
  • Considerable industrial experience (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques (Preferred)
  • Supervisory experience (Preferred)

Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday.  The work hours will be determined based on the assigned facility.


Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected
