We are looking to employ a Senior Technical Team Leader – Assembly Operations, who will be responsible for providing technical leadership, coordination, and operational oversight across all assembly shifts. The role ensures that assembly equipment operates safely, efficiently, and within established performance targets, while maintaining product quality, minimizing scrap, and supporting production requirements.


The position serves as the primary technical reference point for the Assembly Production area and provides guidance, support, and direction to all Shift Technicians. The Senior Technical Team Leader works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance departments to ensure optimum equipment performance and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities




  • Provide technical leadership and support to all Shift Technicians operating within the Assembly Department.
  • Act as the first point of contact for technical matters affecting assembly equipment performance.
  • Coordinate and support technical activities across all shifts to ensure consistency of standards and practices.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, reliability, and quality.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment-related issues.
  • Ensure all assembly equipment operates within approved cycle times and production targets.
  • Monitor and support initiatives to minimize scrap, downtime, and production losses.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Responsible for the setup, adjustment, optimization, and support of CNC robots and robot pick-and-place systems operating from injection moulding machines.
  • Support robot programming modifications where required to achieve operational efficiency and product quality objectives.
  • Ensure robotic systems are operating safely and effectively.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and technical development support to Shift Technicians.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and competency development plans for technical personnel.
  • Promote standardization of technical practices across all shifts.
  • Support the Technical Manager in workforce planning, resource allocation, and technical development initiatives.
  • Maintain and control technical documentation relevant to assembly operations.
  • Ensure procedures, work instructions, setup documentation, and technical records remain current and accurate.
  • Lead the implementation and standardization of technical documentation across the department.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, GMP requirements, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Production and the Technical Department.
  • Coordinate technical support activities to meet production schedules and business requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing productivity, quality, and equipment effectiveness.
  • Support changeovers, new product introductions, and process improvement activities as required.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of Shift Technicians.
  • Recommend technical improvements and corrective actions.
  • Escalate technical, safety, quality, or operational concerns to the Technical Manager.
  • Approve and maintain departmental technical documentation within assigned responsibilities.
  • Provides support and oversight across all production shifts as required.
  • May be required to work additional hours during critical production activities, major breakdowns, or project implementations.



Requirements:



  • Preferably in possession of a Diploma level qualification accredited at MQF level 4
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar post within a manufacturing environment
  • Computer literacy and basic mathematical knowledge
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment.
