SQPA is hiring a Site Supervisor for the ExpandED afterschool program at P.S. 118 Lorraine Hansberry School. This role offers the opportunity to lead 10 staff members and help create a safe, engaging environment for elementary-aged children. We’re looking for an organized, dependable leader who communicates clearly, supports staff, and enjoys working with young people.



Primary Job Duties

  • Work with SQPA leadership to establish site procedures and prepare program spaces, materials
  • Interview and assist in hiring direct-service staff for the site.
  • Ensure program spaces are prepared for daily activities and properly secured at the end of operations.
  • Ensure participants are engaged in daily activities; maintain appropriate staff-to-participant coverage and follow procedures that support the safety and security of participants.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with relevant agencies and community partners.
  • Develop strong relationships with parents and caregivers through targeted involvement and communication strategies.
  • Plan and implement functions and events for staff, families, and youth at the program facility.
  • Attend agency events and represent SQPA to community partners, public officials, funders, and families; 
  • Coordinate staff training, development, and site meetings; ensure staff complete required training hours.
  • Prepare and present relevant reports as needed; conduct written performance evaluations and annual reviews of site staff.
  • Coordinate outreach and recruitment of program participants.



Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in afterschool, summer camp, or youth development programming.
  • Strong organization, communication, and staff leadership skills.
  • Employment is contingent on required clearances and screenings for work with children and youth.
  • Staff supervision experience.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • A respectful, supportive approach to working with children and adults.
  • Reliable Monday–Friday afternoon availability.

Pay, Schedule, and Location

  • Pay: $30.00 per hour.
  • Benefits: Sick Time Accrual
  • Job type: Part-time, on-site.
  • Expected hours: Approximately 25 per week.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, with consistent availability and flexibility between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Actual hours may vary based on program and operational needs.
  • Location: P.S. 118 Lorraine Hansberry School, 190-20 109th Road, St. Albans, NY 11412.
  • Target hire date: October 5, 2026.
