Head of Legal
Main Responsibilities:
- Build an effective Corporate legal function for the profitable operation of the business.
- Ensure successful operation in a multi-regulatory environment with multiple regulators (financial regulators, consumer protection, personal data protection) in different geographies.
- Systematize and/or build legal processes, including support of day-to-day operations (contract work, document management), licensing and certification (obtaining and maintaining all necessary licenses and certificates), building and maintaining corporate structure.
- Ensure effective long-term business development and growth (launching new products and entering new markets, organizing investment attraction and/or M&A deals).
Expected Results:
- Launch of effective system work (standards, processes, process documentation).
- Structuring internal documentation and keeping it in order.
- Launch of proactive work, especially in areas at risk — to deal with prevention rather than urgent reaction.
- Formed internal core team of 3-5 people and set up professional contractors to work in areas where required.
- Control over legal function in portfolio companies (contractor management, recruitment and goal setting for internal team).
- Overseeing the compliance of the direction and setting up effective communication and interaction with regulators.
- Registration, filing and protection of intellectual property.
Professional Qualifications:
- Head of Legal position in-house 5+ years, including 3+ in international online business.
- Practical experience with a variety of geographies (Europe, USA, SEA, Africa, Latam) and significant experience with the most popular international hubs (Cyprus, UK, UAE, Singapore).
- Management experience — recruiting and managing a team and division.
- Experience of working with multiple legal entities and organizing an effective corporate structure within the group.
- Ability to perform work independently, by internal team and by external contractors, while effectively allocating tasks.
- Experience of working in regulated industries and regular interaction with regulators (obtaining licenses, passing inspections).
- Strong understanding of related functions, including tax, finance, and commercial aspects of the business.
- Business-oriented mindset — to find and propose solutions to problems, not to explain “why it won’t work”.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in business negotiations (building partnerships with contractors and regulators).
- Fluent English and knowledge of Ukrainian to work with local partners.

- Experience in international investment and M&A transactions will be a plus.
- Experience in reputable professional services will be a significant plus.
- Experience in fintech will be a plus.
- Location — predominantly Cyprus.
