The BEST Group – a group of Bermudian companies providing services in the fleet, freight, logistics, shipping, trucking, and warehousing industries have an immediate vacancy for a Tractor Trailer Driver to join JV Transport Ltd. on a full-time basis. The tractor trailer will be responsible for loading the assigned truck, abide by traffic laws and ensure safe unloading and delivery at the end destination. The Tractor Trailer Driver must hold a valid tractor trailer license and a dock pass or be able to obtain a valid dock pass.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Follow instructions and work orders from manager/dispatch.
- Secure cargo items and machines on trucks and trailers for safe transport.
- Load and offload containers onto chassis when necessary.
- Maintain radio contact with your immediate manager and dispatcher to receive instructions or be dispatched to new locations.
- Notify your immediate manager of any maintenance or repairs needed on the trucks and complete work orders when required.
- Clean the interior and exterior of trucks when required.
- Report to manager/dispatch any incidents encountered on the road that will cause delays / impact scheduling /and customers.
- Responsible to follow all traffic laws while operating company vehicle and performing duties.
- Responsible to establish frequent contact with dispatch and communicate arrival and completion times of jobs.
- You will be expected, when necessary, to keep records of time, description of services and other paperwork required.
Qualification / Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in driving tractor trailer.
- Working knowledge of work scheduling, dispatch, logistic site operation, transportation, and warehouse management environment.
- Valid Tractor Trailer License
- Able to obtain a Dock Pass
- Valid counterbalanced forklift, high lift, scissor, and boom lift certification.
- Proficient in high-paced work environments.
- Eager to learn and adept at following instructions.
- Positive and proactive work demeanor.
- Strong verbal (English) communication skills.
- Physical requirements, the ideal candidate must be able to handle a variety of physical activities from sitting to standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, and lifting from 10 to 120 pounds repeatedly. Work is primarily performed in an outdoor environment, and the ideal candidate will be exposed to changing weather conditions (temperature & humidity) while performing responsibilities.
