Logistics and Facilities Specialist

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Deputy Director of Logistics and Facilities, and is responsible for property management, inventory accountability and documentation, and warehouse efficiency / functionality. This role will assist in the day-to-day operations of logistics and supports the facilities team as needed.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for tracking, safeguarding, and maintaining company assets including proper documentation, tracking of incoming and outgoing company capital equipment being acquired or deployed, for customer use (on contract) or for use in IR&D activities.

Monitors and maintains current inventory levels and investigates discrepancies. Records purchases, maintains system database, performs physical count of inventory, and reconciles actual stock count to computer-generated reports. Receives, inspects and verifies orders, unpacks, and delivers goods; re-stocks items as necessary; labels shelves.  Maintains order of the warehouse and shop areas, creating storage and workflow solutions.

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents.
  • Inspect deliveries for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues to the appropriate departments.
  • Accurately enter receiving data into warehouse management systems.
  • Label, sort, and store received materials in designated warehouse locations.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, inventory control, and operations teams regarding shipment status and discrepancies.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (if certified).
  • Maintain organized receiving and storage areas to ensure efficient warehouse operations.
  • Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and stock audits.
  • Prepare and maintain receiving documentation and records.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support shipping and general warehouse activities as needed.

 

 

Required Skills:

  • Warehouse or inventory experience.
  • Experience in light manufacturing or warehouse equipment.
  • Experience in receiving and warehouse operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to obtain government clearance.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Domestic shipping and receiving experience.
  • Active secret clearance is a plus but not required.
  • Understanding of operations of forklifts.
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to complete light maintenance tasks such as climbing a ladder and lifting 50lbs.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in warehouse environments that may include varying temperatures and noise levels.
  • Manual dexterity required for handling materials and operating equipment.

Travel Requirements (If Applicable):

Travel: Less than 5% to satellite offices (Lowell, MA and Virginia Beach, VA)
