NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB
The OHS officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment by implementing, monitoring, and continually improving the Company's Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS). Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and certification requirements.
SHIFT DETAILS
Monday – Friday 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS).
- Conduct internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 audit requirements.
- Develop and execute comprehensive safety programs (including first aid training, fire drills, etc.), policies, and emergency response plans.
- Conduct weekly inspections and annual risk assessments of the workplace to ensure compliance with safety regulations and identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct investigations into workplace incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and other relevant documentation.
- Communicate effectively with employees and management to promote a positive safety culture and foster a culture of safety awareness.
- Advocate for safety and maintenance improvements and resources to ensure that the workplace is a safe and healthy environment for all employees.
- Oversee the safety committee, conduct regular committee meetings, and document meeting notes.
- Offer support and accompany employees for medical care who fall ill or get injured on the job.
- Ensure compliance with standard and local safety regulations.
- Procure, install, and maintain safety signage, PPEs, etc.
- Attend approved safety seminars or training to enhance safety knowledge and practices.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to management on safety operations.
- Serve as the company’s point of contact with local health and safety authorities and ensure timely reporting of incidents as required by law.
- Review safety practices of contractors and vendors working on-site to ensure alignment with internal health and safety standards.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance and Housekeeping departments to ensure identified health and safety concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
- Any other assigned tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Certificate or Diploma in OHS or Safety Management.
- Certification from a recognized occupational health and safety institution.
- Certified Internal Auditor for ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
- Certified Internal Auditor for ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in OHS.
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working within an ISO-certified management system is considered an asset.
- Experience conducting internal audits.
- Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
- Experience using Safety Management Systems and electronic document management systems is an asset.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
