Safety and Compliance Officer

NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB

The Safety & Compliance Officer supports fleet safety and regulatory compliance initiatives by maintaining driver qualification records, monitoring safety performance, reviewing compliance documentation, and assisting with driver onboarding and training. The role ensures adherence to company policies and transportation regulations while supporting initiatives that reduce operational risk and improve fleet safety.

SHIFT DETAILS

Monday – Friday 09:00 AM to 6:00 PM

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

• Conduct safety reviews of new driver applications before approval.
• Verify Driver Qualification File (DQF) requirements and supporting documentation.
• Review driver licences, medical certificates, previous employment verification, MVRs, and other required documents.
• Establish new driver accounts in company systems.
• Coordinate driver onboarding and orientation.
• Maintain Driver Qualification Files for active drivers.
• Monitor document expiry dates and coordinate renewals.
• Perform secondary monitoring and auditing of driver logs using the Driver Log Checklist.
• Review Hours of Service (HOS) compliance.
• Monitor unresolved log violations.
• Investigate recurring HOS violations.
• Escalate compliance concerns to the Safety & Compliance Manager.
• Maintain records of completed log audits.
• Support continuous improvement through audits, action plans, and trend analysis to strengthen safety performance, reduce violations, and improve overall operational compliance.
  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation Management, Logistics, Safety Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in transportation safety, fleet compliance, or regulatory compliance.
• Professional Certificate in Safety and Compliance

• Excellent computer and administrative skills.
