Cascade Systems Technology are looking for aSMT Machine Operator I who will operate advanced SMT equipment, support production operations, and help deliver high-quality electronic assemblies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment; We're also seeking an experienced SMT Machine Operator II to support advanced SMT in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. This role will operate and troubleshoot SMT equipment while helping ensure products meequality standards. Thie role will also train and support level 1 operators. This position requires schedule flexibility, including overtime as needed. Duties: 

SMT Operator I - 

  • Perform kit audits.  
  • Operate Pick-and-Place (P&P) equipment in production mode.  
  • Set up and operate screen printers.  
  • Verify feeder setup and load feeders.  
  • Complete all Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production records, logs, and documentation as required 
  • Follow weekly build/ship and production schedules and notify the supervisor or team lead of any potential delays.  
  • Monitor SMT equipment during operation and promptly report machine issues or material shortages.  
  • Communicate any quality issues to the supervisor or team lead within fifteen (15) minutes of discovery.  
  • Follow all chemical handling, Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures.  
  • Follow all safety requirements and promptly report accidents, injuries, and safety concerns. 



SMT Operator II - 

  • All of the above, including: 
  • Perform basic P&P equipment programming and de-bugging tasks.  
  • Prepare circuit boards for thermal profiling and perform X-ray inspections as required 
  • Inform supervisor immediately if there are any problems with machines.  
  • Communicate any quality issues to immediate supervisor/team lead within fifteen (15) minutes of finding.  
  • Instruct, train and monitor SMT Machine Operator Level 1 as required by direct supervisor. 

 

Qualifications 

SMT Operator I - 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Six months to two years of manufacturing, production, assembly, electronics, or related experience preferred. 
  • Entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn may be considered. 
  • Good communication skills.  
  • Ability to read and comprehend assembly instructions and work orders.  
  • Excellent attention to detail.  
  • Ability to identify electronic components and part numbers.  
  • Ability to learn Lean Manufacturing principles.  
  • Ability to learn and follow ISO 9000 processes.  
  • Must be eligible to work in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements. 
  • Familiar with and ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn and utilize other Company software. 
  • Understanding of IPC standards, including IPC-A-610 preferred. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. 



SMT Operator II - 

  • All of the above, plus:  
  • Two (2) years established work experience, preferably in a manufacturing or computer component environment. 
  • Knowledge and experience in creating pick and place machine programs required 
  • Must be able to learn and work with LEAN working methods and processes. 
  • Experience operating Surface Mount Technology equipment such as screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, automated optical inspection (AOI) systems, and X-ray inspection equipment. 
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot common placement, soldering, and feeder-related issues. 
  • Ability to accurately complete production records and maintain manufacturing traceability documentation.
